![]() I have this mixture now: ATI AIW Rage 128 PCI and ASUS P5A (ATX) . Mobo Bios is the latest Version (1011 Beta) Windows will go black screen and hang when the ATI drivers are loaded. Other statement on the NET are telling that this setup is not compatible (Toms Hardware Guide) Is there anybody out there who can proof this ? Or give a hint of how to 'make it work' So if anybody is succesfully using it - please post ur setup here. Many thanks, Thomas |

I think its IRQ's or something... try removing every other PCI card except the video card then trying every slot until you find out that they all don't work or one of them works

Could you post the link to the article or statement on the incompatability? We might be able to help better with the particulars of your configuration with that information.
Alladin Ali M1541 chipset, hmmm...

There was a page at ATI outlining your problem here:
ATI AIW 128 Click on "Solve a Problem", then "Lockups and Hangs", then "Operating System" and you'll see the problem specific to your mainboard at the bottom of the list of problems. It said that a bios update should fix your problem, then checked ASUS' site and the bios you have is the latest, but you might want to chance dropping back to 1007a or 1007. You may also want to apply the latest ALi Busmaster driver (v3.40) for your board. Further, did you thoroughly clean Windows of the previous driver using Add/Remove Programs and the DH Drivercleaner program? A few things you can try - hope these help...

I know there was a patch for the VIA chips (VIA Latency fix), perhaps there's something in your BIOS to re-allocate PIRQ's or something in a way that is compatible with the card?

To all who replied here: I gave up to clear this issue. I just sold the PCI Card Rage 128 GL AIW at ebay.
Also the P5A Booard will be dumped. The automatic reduction of the CPU clock line is causing the MOBO to run with 50 Mhz FSB instead of the full 100Mhz for my AMD K6-3/400. Now I have two of these boards - will push them to ebay in a few days. |
