Well have received two emails from Hercules that state the card is defective: So they will change it.

Um.. it sounds like Assign IRQ for vga is not enabled in the bios... Look for a bios upgrade asus udates them regularly.. that option should be in you bios

but i have the latest bios update. The card is defective, i have thought that from about aweek ago, but you live in hope. Hercules say its defective, so its a new card and happy fragging from there after. I hope.

Just out of curiosity did you try another video card to see if the problem could be with the motherboard. I had problems with my 3d games and it turned out to be a defective motherboard. After I replaced it, all went well.

Yes, i am now using my old GeForce 2 Pro card, and it works great. The 9700 has left. So the mobo is just fine.
