X2 cooler

Has anyone had much luck with these on an aiw x1800xl?, i recently put one on mine and although the card ran much cooler (50c instead of 65 at idle) the card became very unstable ( constant crashes in games, fear would glitch from the start) putting the stock cooler back on has resolved all the problems

Then that means the card must have been badly seated or the cooler badly put cuz otherwise, it makes no sense

Maybe the fan connector needed the RPM signal and the X2 doesn't plug into the card? Its an idea... CPU Coolers and mobos work the same

its very odd. im assuming everything was plugged in and working as shown by the drop in temp . the X2 plugs in to the card and i could adjust the fan using ati tool ( had the side off to see the fan spinning). oh well bit of a waste of £22 but system is running ok ish now so im leaving it alone

Yes Ive had exactly the same problems with my 1900XTX As you say card runs cooler and quiter but I found that instaed of it pushing the hot air out the back of computer it blows it in to case and therefore the heat rises and causes everything to overheat in computer.(Even thought my water cooler had dried out!!) Ive been trying to find out why my machine was crashing all the time when playing games such as fear and Far cry (Plying for the 4th time now this time with the 1.4 HD patch and it is superb!!) Since i put the cooler that came with the card back on my system is very stable again. I Too am disapointed at my lost £22, hope AC can do something about this . If you find anything else out let me know mate.

Regards

not veyr happy with mine. Noticed an increase in temps. Still only 65C full load. But that's hotter than it used to be.
