oc 1800xl

without using ati tools, how do i oc? am currently using omega6.3.

a lot of people have been having problemd with 6.4. thought i would pass on them.
if i dont have another option guess ill give them a shot.

Well, you have your non-warranty voiding Overdrive then you have everything else so there it is

lol. the card is used so that is not a factor. but 'safer' ocing is. guess ill have to download that set & see.

I used ATIs over drive tool and only went to 550/1050 with that card mike Id be afraid of doing anything over that on stock cooling the one time i tried maxing out overdrives settings 3dmark06 froze halfway through.

If it isn't warrantied go for broke with ATI Tool.

Overdrive is no safer its just warrantied

i just put an accelerox2 on there dropped the temp 15c!
i went ahead & installed the 6.4. the overdrive gave me me 560/1100. pretty good but i think it will do better

ill wait a couple of days for those theraml pads to get 'cured'.

my wife just played 3 hours of gw with me at those settings & no probs! had everyhting set in game & drivers to highest iq & 4x aa/af. ran great! she is really a happy camper!! thx guys.
to tell the truth, i dont see the point in trying to oc it any higher. i know i could turn aa/af up another notch but the iq she is getting on her dell panel is already great & she is very happy - wich is the bottom line of course

Yeah i kinda bagged ocing high altogether (on this XL atleast) but thats great! Glad your wifes happy, that is all that matters.

ati x1800xt
im using 6.4 cat's with ccc overdrive 690x800 maxed no problems and it will go higher
with ati tool/ stock cooler 65c is the highest temp ive seen all other settings maxed as well

Thats a miracle. If I overclock and play GW I get a hardlock.

I think it had something to do with PCI Master Transaction Delay (I had popping sound), but you didn't notice any weirdness playing GW overclocked?

! (Well as if I need it, even on 1600x1200 with everything maxed and my card clocks cut in half it runs without lag)

yep no probs whatsoever. spent last nite & some of yesterday afternoon playing factions pre-release & was problem free! great iq! have all settings maxed out in game. running 4xaf anymore does not seem to make that much of a diff in that game imo.
