no games work on my x850pro

its really wierd... first i found oblivion crashing, then GRAW. so i thought something might be conflicting and ended up formatting. in addition, i thought my tv wonder elite might be interfering so i didnt install it first. installed omega 6.3's and games and trieid, still no luck. installed the tv wonder elite drivers and software and no luck. then i installed counter strike source which was working before doesnt even launch so i tried catalyst 6.4 AND STILL NOTHING.

basically on oblivion and GRAW crash once the menu loads, and counter strike source just goes to black when the loading screen goes away. i cannot see or use the main menu but am able to open task manager and close it.

what the hell is going on? i did o/c my card but there was no artifacting i sent it back to stock settings again

I am sure you have mem tested your memory, checked harddrives, checked bios for weird settings and installed latest chipset drivers - but had to say it, just in case.

of course, everything is updated on my system except the genuine windows notification. i skipped that one hehe.

i am using beta IE7, WLM8 and Windows Defender but that shouldnt interfere with it and when i didnt install these pieces of software i had the same problem. and don't recommend driver cleaner because i always use it.

i am going to try pulling out my tv wonder elite to see if that makes a diff i just feel so lazy to try it

i did some more testing, i pulled out the tv wonder elite and cs source did load to the menus, joined a game and once it finished loading it gave me the same error as i got in GRAW. very odd

i am running mem test right now on the comp see if any errors come up, the RAM should be fine. my system is very stable. videos and dvds are no problem at all. i did notice that i wasn't able to use my tv wonder elite before in a diff PCI slot. no driver would be installed. so i swapped it and it worked. right now its pulled out but still no games work

i just tested my memory about 76 times with the windows memory test, it found 5 errors. it was unable to determine which module the errors were on and the utility has no option to export it to a log file. does this mean my ram is faulty?

i just want to play my games in peace it has been a while

Never seen so few errors, but I have heard about it. When I make a faulty overclock I get thousands of errors.

Anyways try one stick at a time. Problem is if you have errors from memory, you will likely need a fresh install.

You could try downloading memtest bootable cd image.

well i'm running the windows memory diagnostic again, it runs off a cd you have to bootup. the first module didnt report any errors in the first 5 runs. trying the second module. and i have formatted 2 times already. i did only 5 runs because the errors were found in the first 2

edit- couldn't find errors on either module...wierd?

nm i did multiiple reinstalls and uninstalls, finally worked. i also fooled around with the settings for some reason forcing the mipmap filter causes the crash

now im going to try my tv wonder elite again and see what happens. GRAW looks pretty damn good and getting 30fps at 1152x768 2x fsaa 16x AF.

I Didn't know GRAW supports AA???

How the hell did you manage to get it to run at 30fps??? I tried it at 1280x1024 without AA and AF and have only 15-25...

dont know if fsaa is working but its set on at 2x.... i tweak the hell out of my system. im getting a good 25-30 fps, my GPU is o/c to 550 mem to 535 and it is stable. did a lot of windows tweaks as well. it never gets to unplayable rates but it doesnt feel as smooth as ravenshield did.

It actually works at 600, but for a safer note i put it on 580.
GPU shows errors in ATT at 550. Too bad.

I am using Actic Cooling Silencer 5 rev.2 but I think I didn't seat it properly. Have to take it off, reapply Arctic Silver and then we will see how it will behave.

My buddy has it watercooled with voltmod working at 600/630. He is an oc maniac.

the cooling fan included is pretty damn good, i don't feel comfortable over 550 anyways. my 9700 pro didn't o/c that well and my board absolutely blows at overclocking my CPU

Hmm, I have mine running at 597/630 with a Zalman VF700cu.

But whether I have it oc'd or not I am having issues with BF2, I can't get consistent FPS at any setting in that game.
