x800xt AIW or x850xt

Hi,I just bought an AIW x800xt from CompUSA this past Saturday for 179.99. I upgraded from a 9800 pro. I go back to CompUSA and I see an x850xt on Sunday and its for 199.99.It was a manager's special because the box was slightly torn on the front, I figure. Now, in your opinion is an extra $20 worth the x850xt or is the x800xt good enough. No need for the AIW options. I've seen the x850xt usually get about 4-5 fps in benchmarks and that is why I was wondering.Would CompUSA allow me to exchange if the x800xt has already been opened. Thanks in advance.

CompUsa gives the customer as I`m sure you are aware of 21 days to bring back a product and either get a refund or an exchange. You can merely say your not happy with the card for any reason and they will gladly exchange the card.

I just upgraded from a 9700 pro to the AIW x800xt and considered the x850xt but I wanted to be able to do some capture & video editing, so I stuck with the x800xt.

I do know now the overdrive tab is NOT supported in CCC with the AIW cards which is no big deal, and the speeds between the two cards are nominal.

If I was you... I'd get that X850XT then buy a separate TV tuner, you'll be alot happier and you won't rip out half your hair trying to get the AiW part of the card to work.

Now... if you don't care about doing video or TV anything keep the card and never mind the X850XT

Thanks all for your responses. Is the x850xt basically an overclocked x800xt? I mean besides a different core and fan what does the card offer? From the links above they seem the same.

If you could find and purchase the Platinum Edition of either the X800XT or the X850XT then you would see a difference in speed. But you will find it very hard to locate any of the PE cards brand new.

For what your doing with still a AGP motherboard setup, the AIW x800xt or the x850xt will be just fine until you either upgrade your existing rig or purchase a new pc later next year with a DX video card.

Good Luck !

The X850XT is essentially an overclocked X850XT for all intents and purposes, with a different fan. The PE versions of those respective cards is another bump in clock speed.
