Return x800xt for x1950 Pro AGP?

Now what should I do. My x800xt AIW is one week old from CompUSA and I just read that there is going to be an x1950 Pro AGP from Diamond due out in October for ~$200 or less. My x800xt cost me 179.99 plus tax so my gut feeling is to return this card under the CompUSA 21 day return and wait to see if this x1950 Pro AGP comes out. Should I or is this another rumor?

The X1950AGP model has a 256MB GDDR4 interface, core clock speed of 600MHz and a 1.4 GHz memory speed (Due Oct 2006). All these products support Dual DVI (x2 Dual-link), HDTV, D-sub, VIVO and Avivo.

Based on that i would definately wait for the 1950agp, But you still have 2 more weeks to return the x800xt, Id say use it for another week, then return it

Diamond also promised an x1800 AGP, which they never produced. I wouldn't hold my breath. . .also, the bridge chip used to run a native PCIe part on an AGP bus hinders performance, I recall reading. . .something about a clock speed limitation.

Was that Diamond also with the x1800 agp thingy? Man'o man. Well, I'd hate to miss out on that if it is true though. Will just have to wait a while and see if there is any more news. By the way, does anyone know the performance hit that Rasta Monsta is talking about and how it would compare to the x800xt? Thanks.

A X1950 for AGP... i can't belive it... Could that card be more powerful than 7800 GS or 7900 GS? I want a bench when that monster comes out!!!

Not a question of when but a question of if

Is that story correct, anyone seen it confirmed anywhere else? Be nice if it was.

From checking the Diamond MM site though it looks like they may have confused it with the X1650Pro AGP as that's the closest thing I can see listed on there.

I currently have a X800XL 256MB AGP so I guess even the X1650Pro, 256 or 512 version, could be a nice upgade for me?

Go from a 16 pipe 256bit memory interface card to a 12 pipe 128 bit card? Why?

I was thinking of the

256mb to 512mb
400Mhz to 600mhz core
490mhz to 700mhz mem
SM2.0 to SM3.0
6 to 8 vertex shaders.

??

Well I think I will be returning my x800xt AIW back to CompUSA tomorrow since the 21 day return policy ends on Saturday. I was hoping that there would have been an "official" news of whether that x1950 Pro AGP was coming out or not. But why take the chance of getting stuck with the x800xt, which is a very good card by the way, when I could probably get the x1950 Pro in about a month for approximately the same price. If it doesn't come out then I'll just buy another x800xt.

Memory is only 1.42x as fast in clock speed but half as fast in terms of bus bandwidth making it a far worse deal.

More memory....eh... not gonna be useful on that card IMO

SM2/3... moot at that performance level
6 to 8 shaders moot again with the pipeline difference.

algeeba: The X1950 for AGP I doubt will come out very highly, theres little money in a marketing standpoint for AGP, and you may not be able to find an X800XT for AGP in a few months
