X800 XL Driver Problem

I recently upgraded my sound card to a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi since doing so my graphics card no longer works. In the device manager the display driver error is code 12, there are not enough resources available. So when I boot up with the sound card installed I get the lowest possible res and lowest colour quality in vgasave mode or something.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the graphics card drivers, even tried a fresh windows install but no joy. Is there no way I can get my graphics card and sound card to get along?

Intel P4 2.8ghz
Gigabyte Titan Series 8KNXP
PowerColor ATI Radeon X800 XL
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When you installed the new sound card, which PCI slot did you use? Try changing it around.

You also don't indicate whether you have a PCI Express or AGP version of the video card. Which is it? Do you have the correct power plug connected to it and using only ONE trunk from the PSU? It's important to give the card an isolated source of power or at least use a shared power device with something that doesn't constantly use power or doesn't use a lot of power when it needs it.
