Can anyone help with this?
I have a problem. Whenever I do ANY 3D application (usually only games), most times after a while the computer's screen will go blank, and I will have to restart the computer to do anything. I have researched this error myself and before I tried all the fixes I got the BSOD: Device Driver Stuck In Infinite Loop (or similar). Now, after trying EVERYTHING (and I mean everything: installing every driver known to man, tweaking every setting ditto, overclocking, underclocking, flashing BIOS (only motherboard BIOS - not graphics), tweaking the BIOS, trying all the "fixes", and probably some other things I have forgotten), the error STILL occurs.
It COULD be a faulty card/mobo, or PSU problems, or maybe incorrect video card BIOS. These are all things I do not know how to check/change. My video card is a Radeon 7000 64MB PCI (yeah, I know, its a piece of crap - hopefully upgrading entire computer soon). Computer Specs: Motherboard: DFI CM33-TL Chipset VIA 8601T/686B (Manufacturer page http://us.dfi.com.tw/Product/xx_product_spec_details_r_us.jsp?PRODUCT_ID=1170&C ATEGORY_TYPE=MB&SITE=US) CPU: Intel Celeron 1.1GHz - FC-PGA RAM: 256MB (one stick) 133MHz (unknown manufacturer). HDD: I'm not sure on these, I think one is 10GB, one 40GB, not sure of manufacturer/speed. Network Adapter: Realtek RTL8139/810x (what it says in device manager) OS: Windows XP Home (NO SERVICE PACKS) Clean install from upgrade CD. The integrated graphics on the motherboard are probably better; these failed a while ago - the reason I have a Radeon 7000 PCI. This might be an indication of something faulty on the motherboard. I have spent countless (and I mean a LOT of) hours trying to fix this. Hopefully someone here can help fix this (or confirm that some hardware is faulty :/ ). Thanks in advance for your help. |

Install service pack 2 and the latest DirectX package from Microsoft.
That should make a big difference, as you're supposed to have SP2 for newer drivers, and .NET for the CCC |

I have the latest .NET, and I think the DirectX is from August 2006. I once installed SP2 - I still got the error.
Anyway, I tried the onboard graphics again. After not working for over a year ( ! ), they now work and I can boot into windows SAFE mode without any problems, but not into normal mode (it goes blank/freezes as soon as it starts loading the welcome screen). I installed the drivers from the motherboard manufacturer's website for them, but this hasnt seemed to have changed anything. I suspect this may be something to do with some AGP settings, but I don't know how to change these as they are not in the BIOS. Anyway, thanks for your input. |

It is not currently after a format/install, but I originally had Win 2K and did a format clean install - problem still happened the same. As for the motherboard chipset drivers, I think so, maybe could reinstall them.
EDIT: Reinstalled latest. Last edited by aNy_oNE; Nov 18, 2006 at 02:08 AM. |

Well, now the card is completely dead and I'm back to using integrated graphics, which surprisingly work fully now. But alas, it can only use 8MB ( ! ) of RAM, so performance is not so good.
Ah well, never mind this thread. Now I just need to survive till I upgrade... |
