Compatibility? ... I'm this " Close to give up !
Fellows if my instructor finds out probably gives me an "f" in my Computer hardware exam
But this GPU has taken more time from me than BF2 . I've been attending to school for a few months now in a Network Tech. program, but I guess my knowledge doesn't quite make it for this one. I have an ATI Radeon 9700 which used to work super well with an ASUS p4s333 motherboard/Pentium 4 and also with a KT4V motherboard/ AMD Athlon XP. Recently I swicthed to a K7 Triton series/GA-7VM400M(F) motherboard/ AMD Athlon XP 2400...but when I try to install my radeon card I never get video and although the system starts, it never boots up. I believe I have done everything by the book and I spent freaking time with ATI customer support and they assured me that the card and my system are entirely compatible...BIOS upgraded, BIOS set-up, back and forth, Device manager ...Well, I'm ready to give up on the Radeon and perhaps just go NVIDIA. but I'd like to know if any savvy GPU wizzard can give me a tip on what could this problem be? This is what I have: - Motherboard k7 triton series/ GA-7VM400M(F) - AMD Athlon XP 2400, 1986. MHz - 1 AGP slot 8x/4x/2x mode (1.5 V) - 2 GB of DDR

Please clarify: You get no video at all from the board when you boot or no video after it boots?
I mean, can you get into the BIOS screens and navigate around or not? I think what you're saying is that you've flashed up and down on the BIOS for which I assume you'd have to be able to see or have another video card to do it with. |

Hey thanks for you help...Nope. I never gets to the BIOS. it doesn't boot up at all. it does start, but I don't get any output to the screen, so I always switch to another video card to work with the BIOS. I also downloaded the proper driver for this card from ATI web site but it never completes the installation because it doesn't find the hardwar that its to work for(ATI Radeon 9700)

I switched to an old Nvidia Geforce 256 and it does boot up all the way with that one.
Thanks...

It might be that it's just not compatible period. To BIOS flash the card you'd need to put it in another system then flash the card, then try it back in the mobo you want to use it in.
