problems when playing games with 2 x1900 crossfire cards
when I go to play any games, the screen wabbles a little back and forth. When I am browsing or looking at the desktop, it is still, is there a setting I am missing somewhere?
Thanks |

I was still posting in your other thread, LOL.
You should have kept them as one thread. No big deal though. Like I posted in your other thread, what is the rated output of your PSU? Try to find the label on the side of the PSU, wattage and voltage. I have never had a Sli or crossfire capable system but what steps did you take when you added the second card? It would be nice if you could create a system profile in a sig or in your cp profile of DH. That way we know what the rest of your system is. Make sure you add the fact that it is an OEM system. |

its a 700 watt psu, I looked in the bios under video config/primary adapter and it was set to auto, and the other 2 settings were Ext PCIE Graphics, and the other was Ext PCI Graphics, should I try one of those, or leave it on auto. When I installed the 2nd card, first I uninstalled the ati drivers, 6.11s, used driver cleaner, turned the computer off, installed the card, hooked up the power to the card, used the connecting cord, turned the computer back on, canceled auto install of drivers, then installed the 6.11s I had downloaded, I tried the 10s also, but got the same wabbling screen. Went back to the single card now and its fine

Cobra, pull the cards out and RESEAT them.
also reconnect the doggle as well. And lastly, try using a the dvi to VGA converter and connect to your monitor to see if it solves the wobbling. if the only way it's resolved is with the last option, you may have to RMA the cards. They are "saposed" to have a revised version of the cards the resolved DVI wobbling.

I tried all of those, I use a monster dvi cable to connect the cards to the monitor.

Then it's definitly that the cards are an older model and you need the revised ones.
My cards did the same thing with various DVI connected monitors..... and i've got a ungodly heavy dvi cable with this dell monitor.

Sometimes power bricks or UPS's located too close will do this to a monitor.
My DVI connected monitor is fine, but it wasn't before. The solution? Move all the power bricks as far away as possible from it

Power Bars (surge protectors) or UPS (backup power Bars)
Yes, if these come even within a foot or 3 feet, they can produce massive interferance...

Yeah but I mean things like those wall warts or the inline AC --> DC converters for speakers, USB hubs, external hard drives etc. My Belkin USB hub brick was especially offensive for interference

I haven't ran into any other form of interference yet, i've had multiple things running alongside the dvi cables. But i'll look into other things.. i don't have external equipment ( i hate clutter)

Oh you can hide the clutter. You should see my desk, I spent a week rewiring it and its amazing what you can do with some L brackets and some coax clips
