OK, found some stuff . . .
9500pro and 9500 are both R300 9600pro is RV350 (supposed a mix of R300 and R350) not sure about the plain 9600, but I'm guessing RV350 Speeds I found: 9500pro . . . 275/275 9600pro . . . 400/300 wonder if they are right

yeah, sounds right. The 9600pro is a little misleading though, it's acctually supposed to be slower than the 9500pro for some reason, I'm not sure why.

Nice and simple.
From my understanding the 9500 is faster on paper than the 9600, but in actuality the 9600 is gonna be a little faster than the 9500. (I'm a little confused too, but that's what Hellbinder said and I do trust his judgement on such things as he knows a whole bunch more than I do about it.
)

The RV350 will be made available in two forms - the Radeon 9600 Pro and the Radeon 9600. The Pro will feature a 400MHz core clock and 300MHz DDR memory (effectively 600MHz), while the non-Pro will be clocked at 325/200DDR (effectively 325/400). Note that both of the engine clocks are higher than the Radeon 9500 Pro (45% and 18% for the Pro and non-Pro, respectively), but only the Pro features more raw memory bandwidth. Remember that the Radeon 9500 Pro will enjoy higher fill rates courtesy of its 8-pipe design, but the Radeon 9600 Pro's higher clock rate and significantly improved memory controller should be able to eat into that advantage.

The problems of the 9600 are the following:
- Both cards, 9600 and 9600 Pro, will only have four pipelines (unlike 9500 Pro, which has 8)- the new design has been especially made for a 128bit bus, so you will *not* be able to activate the 256bit bus on the 128MB ones ![]() So, they should be at least somewhat slower... even if they will (supposedly) be clocked somewhat higher. |
