ATI Rage Mobility P/M AGP 2X
Dear Sir,
I just upgraded my Compaq Evo N400c laptop's OS to Win XP Fundamental for Legacy PCs. Yeah, it is a Mobile Pentium 3 500 latop with only 256MB RAM. Everything was fine except my display card. I found on the web a long time but still cannot get a driver for WinFLP. I've called Compaq (HP) technical support but they just said they don't have the driver and ask me to ask ATI. I e-mail ATI and they says Compaq's driver has it own feature that I must refer to Compaq!! Can you advise where can I find a suitable driver? I've downloaded one from Dell but at when near 100% of the installation, Setup terminates and ask me to try se a Standard VGA Driver before trying to install again! I might have done something wong before as I can't remove the driver from "Add/Remove Program". What can I do?? Help!! Regards, Sammy |

This version of Windows is new to me. So, I'm not sure I can give you any help re: this particular flavor of Windows. However, you may not be aware that it's quite possible to install Windows XP onto that legacy computer and then tweak it to run smoothly. Things will be much better and without the restrictions of this trimmed down version. I'm going to link you to a site that gives instructions for installing Windows 2000 on legacy systems. However, at the very bottom of the page it will say that the same instructions can be used for installing Windows XP. If I were you, I'd give this a shot. Windows 2000 for Legacy Systems Good luck! |

I just put windows 2000 on my compaq 1200z, 900Mhz Duron, 192MB ram, rage pro mobility 2x agp
This site: http://us.geocities.com/ziyadhosein/rprow2k.htm has multiple driver downloads for the video. It's a long read, but worthwhile, as you will get the driver you need. I have all functions, including a control panel & even the TV out works perectly! I have no problems playing UT99 on it -in fact I use it for training

I think that version of XP is just XP stripped of all nonessentials, so XP drivers should work fine on it (most Windows 2000 ones might also work too)

I realise this is an old thread, but none of the solutions in it work, and after wasting several days, I have found a solution
Download List WinFLP is based on XP embedded, so get the "solution pack" download under the XP Embedded section of this page. It includes a bunch of drivers for their board, including a Rage Mobility driver that works under XP embedded and WinFLP. It is working on my Dell Lattitude CPx H500 Edit: You may also have to rename C:\windows\inf\atimpab.* to stop it picking up the broken (but signed!) built-in driver |

Besides, if one solution works for you, it doesn't guarantee it will work for everyone or anyone else. |
