Sapphire X1950GT in Crossfire?
I'm building a new system with:
X2 4800+ Brisbane Asrock ALiveXFire-eSATA2 SAPPHIRE X1950GT I got the GT because it's cheap, and I'll be replacing it with a DX10 card (since MSFS X will be patched to DX10 by then) when ATI releases them. However, since the GT is so cheap, I've been tempted to get another one and run them in CROSSFIRE. Has anyone seen a review of the GT in CROSSFIRE? Also, what would be your 'best guess' as to how a GT CROSSFIRE setup would perform in HL2, and/or MSFS 9?

Crossfire works beautifully well in HL2...
However, imo, i've found crossfire to be kinda shaky and unreliable under XP... but vista is a whole new ballgame...

That still doesn't give me any info as to wether or not a gain in performance would be worth the extra $$ for the 2nd vid card.

I'd say no then..
it's not worth it.. Not right now i'd say. I'd suggest you use the gt for awhile and if you think you demand more graphics power, then i'd get it down the road later (the sweet advantage of crossfire in that sense).... but if you remain within a Windows XP enviroment and the GT is keeping the FPS up good enough to your likeing, i'd highly suggest against getting crossfire for the time being. so a to the point answer. don't bother

You should get some better motherboard since Asrock is a ‘low-end’ division of Asustek. I never had any positive experience with their boards. I’m not sure if it’s the best time to buy an X1950GT. However, if you don’t have any budget issues then you should stick with it.
