Avivo, what can you use it for?
I see that ATI has promoted and allow use to use Avivo. The only problem is:
How do you use it? What applications are compatible to use it? I like watching DVDs but how can I use Avivo to get a better picture quality (for example)? As of right now I see no real practical use for it. I don't see how you can use it to enhance your gaming. There is simply not enough features. |

Avivo technologies and features.... (similare to that of PureVideo for nvidia from what i understand).. while not fully enabled be default, there is basically from i could tell, has full video acceleration while minimal visual quality enchancements out of the box.
However something like PowerDVD (latest versions) you can enable the AVIVO full feature tech to considerably improve upconverting/upscaling or 1:1 ratio video playback. IMO, playing back without AVIVO on numerous video formats looks several times worse. VIVO is purely connectivity tech, AVIVO is a combination of both or either. Some of the AVIVO features can be adjusted within the CCC under VIDEO. Other applications that fully support AVIVO allow you to adjust even more settings.

thanks everyone. Now it's clear how to get the full functionality for watching DVDs.
Is H.264 a DVD format or is that something you can enable? Oh nevermind its a format that must be used with that DVD movie. Last edited by Eeastcoasthandle; Mar 25, 2007 at 02:58 AM. |
