Sapphire x1650 Pro Crossfire Problem

Well I just got the second card in the mail, and I pop it in my computer.
I have the newest drivers installed, and the Catalyst thing installed.
I enabled Crossfire, but it does not work.
I go to play Battlefield 2142 and it will not work.

To check if my crossfire is working, iv been going on System Requirements Lab
But it just says i have 512MB for my video card.

I cannot find anything on Google..

Can anyone help me out?

Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling your video drivers yet?

As far as detecting what cards you have in the system tool box it will always tell you 512MB for your card as that is the size of the actual hardware. It will not join the two together and give you that number, it should have TWO cards listed. In some instances there is 4 cards listed (One for each monitor output I know this happened with my 9800 XT).

I would honestly check back into Catalyst Control Center and then click on information center, than graphics hardware. It should tell you what you have installed here.

============

It could be software issue but first check to see if the two cards are recognized as noted above ..check in Device manager via Control Panel System and see if both cards are recognized by the system. they should be labelled crossfire edition

Prior to the 7.4 I could not get crossfire to work even through both cards were recognized by XP/Motherboard. With 7.4 and later drivers no problem. Do you have the master video card in the right slot.. could try switching the two video cards.....................

Good luck.. The Crossfire manual provide basic information on how to install the two card into the correct slots as well which ATI card are properly paired for cross fire.........
If I am being too basic I apologize.

I remember there was an issue with running a sapphire card in the main slot, I had to pair my x1600 pro sapphire with an ati x1600 pro as the master card in order for crossfire to work properly, it was weird and probably doesn't effect your situation but it is something to look into on the sapphire forums/tech support.

As for the crashing make sure you update your audio card drivers (for whatever card you have), and that the ati system drivers for your crossfire enabled motherboard updated when you installed the ATI video driver update.

When it crashes to the black screen does the entire system lock up and you can't do anythign at all but hard reboot? Or are you able to alt-tab out and proceed with things at normal? Are you able to play any other 3d enabled video games?

Yo, just make sure the new settings on the cards didnt change ur refresh rate. bf2142 is always sensitive to that, search about it if you need, you will find all the info.

800x600 60hz needs to be unlocked
your in game res + refresh rate have to be allowed by the game in the configs
