problem with drivers

Yesterday I installed the latest Omega drivers (3.8.369) for my Radeon 9600XT.
The thing is, I got reduced performance. Right click menus takes about 2 seconds to appear same with the start-menu. When I try to watch movies it looks as if V-sync aint on and I can kinda see the screen updating from the top to the bottom.

I also get low fps when i play lineage 2 which I didnt get before I updated the drivers.

So, these drivers aint compatible with my card or what's up? Did I install em incorrectly?
The drivers I used before these worked better, I installed them about 2 or 3 years ago.

Help please. :/

made a short post cus I usually post detailed shiet and then dont get any help cus ppl think the post is to long and has 2 much info in it.
anyways...

Operating System: Windows XP Proffesional ( updated to SP 2 just before installing the new drivers.)
Motherboard: Asus A7N8X-X (original BIOS)
Graphics Card/s Installed: Hightech Radeon 9600XT
Cooling Solution for PC Case: Only the PSU fan (retarded I know)

Dont see what cpu optical unit and ram has to do with this since it's clearly got something to do with my drivers, anyways here's the rest of my setup I can remember from the top of my head.

Amd Sempron 2800+ (2,16Ghz)
Maxtor 120 & 200 GB HDD @ 7200 rpm
AOpen 4x DVD +RW/+R
Compaq DVD-ROM SR-858A4
Asus A7N8X-X
2x 512 Mb (one @ 333Mhz and one @ 400Mhz)

Well, it's very clear that you're not into updating the system much.

As for whether you installed them correctly, you don't say how you installed these, so, there's no way to say whether you did it right or not. Depending on which drivers you were using previously, you should Uninstall any and all ATI-related software, reboot, and then start from scratch.

Also, to make sure your Windows Registry is cleared up, download this free program: CCleaner from here: CCleaner - Home Run the Cleaner and then the Issues options. Run the Issues option until it tells you there are no Issues Found. This will help make sure you aren't getting leftover crap from previous drivers.

In the Display Properties of the Omegadrivers, you want to look for an option called WMV Acceleration. Make sure you have a checkmark in it. That's for the movie playbacks.

Also, while it's on my mind, you can't be running RAM at two different speeds. Any RAM you have installed that's rated faster than a slower module you have installed will automatically slow down to match the slower RAM. So, both of these should be running at 333MHz.

Did you install the Ray Adam's ATI Tray Tool with these drivers?

You should consider updating the BIOS on the motherboard. It could include some enhancements/fixes for various problems.

Good luck!

This used to happen to me with the same card (and my current X700 on occasion), with the same board.

Occasionally, I had to do the following:

Uninstall all ATI drivers and NVIDIA drivers, RESTART
Then use DriverCleanerPro to clean system of all ATI / NVIDIA drivers,
Then re-install NVIDIA drivers (I use the Unified Remix NForce drivers), RESTARTx2
Then re-install ATI drivers.

This appears long, but always worked for me. If you don't want to do this, at least re-install the GART driver for the mobo before installing the ATI drivers.
