Greetings and welcome to DriverHeaven!

Since you're using an AGP card, I'd write up to being AGP...especially so if this only just started happening with these drivers.

What kind of crash? Blue screen or just a hard-lock? Just started occuring, or was it occuring before the new drivers were installed?

If you added another RAM module that doesn't match the previous one, it very well could be the culprit. Take one of them out at a time and see if there's an improvement.

Good luck!

But why, Noxious11?

I have got a MSI x1650 pro 256mb passive. I can not use any newer driver than the 7.3. If I try to do so, I see artefacts after the winxp boot screen when the graphics mode is meant to be changed for the login screen.

Your post looks like i am not the only one with that problem?

I seem to have about the same problem. One time my screen just went blank and the keyboard turned off, another time it just stopped responding (didn't update the screen anymore), and one time, my mouse cursor turned into three little horizontal green bars and the second later my computer stopped responding again.
These things all started happening after I bought and installed an x1650 pro video card. I also upgraded my power supply, but if that went wrong, the crashes would be different I think.

Mobo: Asus P5B
CPU: Core 2 Duo
RAM: 2x 1024 MB DDR2
GraCa: MSI RX1650 Pro-TD256EZ PCI-E
Device ID PCI\VEN_1002DEV_71C1SUBSYS_04001462REV_9E\42B9C2F5 000008
Screen: TFT with 1440x900 resolution.
No PCI-Cards installed. All drivers and bios newest from Asus website. Several bios settings tried.

Still I have got this problem that every newer driver than the catalyst 7.3 lets the graphics card crash while booting. I can restart my computer normally using the appropriate keys blindly.

I will try to deinstall tools like UltraVNC now. This installs a driver-hook and I do not understand what exactly it does, so I will get rid of it.

Could it be that the graphics bios includes a wrong DeviceID? So the driver tries to use features which are not supported by this revision of the chip?
