Got a Great Deal Today!!!

The VisionTek 2600XT that just happens to be showing up in our DH ADs today, is the one I picked up at Fry's just this afternoon. But, there's an interesting story about it.

I hadn't actually noticed that this specific AD was running, so, the rest is coincidental.

I did some checking on the 'Net for the 2600XT cards at locations near me. After checking them out, I decided to take a trip to Fry's just to see what was on the shelf.

Well, imagine my surprise when I got there and found this particular video card with a written tag on the front of the shelf stating that it was on sale for $174.99 plus a $25.00 Mail-in Rebate. Sitting right next to it was the same model but made by Diamond Stealth and it was priced at $179.99 right off the shelf.

So, I grabbed the VisionTek model and headed for the games section to see if The Witcher was in yet. (It's not. )

Then, it was off to the checkout to purchase the video card.

Well, this is where it gets really interesting. When the UPC was scanned, it rang up at $199.99 instead of the posted price. At this point, I protested a little stating what was on the shelf sticker. The clerk then went back to the displays and verified that what I said was true.

He then led me to the Customer Service counter where two other people, including the Head Store Manager had to do some research. They concluded that someone had actually written it up all wrong. It was supposed to have been: $199.99 plus the $25.00 rebate which would result in a final price of $174.99.

The final result was, I got the card for $174.99 as they had to honor the posted price, PLUS I still get to send in the $25.00 rebate. Making my final cost, $149.99 plus tax.

How's that for shopping?

BTW, the other stores around town are selling the same card for $229.00 like in our DH AD.

Haha nice find! I'm extremely frugal when I shop, I will try and barter even Brick and Mortar stores. If you're spending more than a few bucks the price is always negotiable, or at worst you can get them to throw in some free cables
