x850 Pro Agp

Hello i have a old agp x850 pro and are having some problems with installing newer drivers so i can play some of the new games out there..
Right now I have the 6.14 installed but if i try to install any others it fails ..

I have used the cat-uninstall the driver cleaner and a couple more
i have tried the drivers from omega and it works on the sec video but not on the main 1 in the device manager i cannot get it too work at all...

I hope this makes sense.. just not sure what is wrong..

Welcome to DriverHeaven!

If the Omega's are working that way, try switching the connections around.

Otherwise, keep in mind that you have an AGP card and there have been reported problems trying to use any drivers after CAT 7.7s on the AGP cards. Omega was able to mod the drivers in 7.10 to make them work with a lot of AGP cards.

Good luck!

Do you have two monitors? From your post I understood you to say that the Omegadrivers work on the SECOND one, but not on the PRIMARY one. If that's the case, just use the Second one. It's just the same. OR, you can go into the Display Properties and reset the Second to work as Primary.

No, there is nothing wrong with the Display Properties nor in the Device Manager.

ATI cards come with TWO devices for the displays. You CAN hook up two monitors and use both of them, or one or the other.

Apparently, when Omegadrivers are installed, they are recognizing the 'other' connection as the Primary.

If you installed Ray Adam's ATI Tray Tool with the Omegadrivers -- which you SHOULD DO! -- it's easy to make the change.

It's still very easy to do in the native Windows Control Panel.

BUT, it would be even easier if you just move the monitor connection from where it is now to the second connection on the video card. You do have two, right?

There should be a DVI-to-VGA adapter that plugs onto the video card and then you plug the monitor to that adapter. Should have been in the box.

Looks like the one in this AD:

BFG Tech - BFG DVI-I to VGA Adapter

No, just proceed the way you're going. If the display still defaults to the secondary, just attach that adapter, switch the monitor over to it, and see if you're set up the way you want.

Good luck!
