Hi there and welcome to DriverHeaven!
First you need to upload the photo to some image hosting service. So that you can link it here and we can have a look.

@thread starter. welcome aboard. Hopefully if we can see the image we can help you. What you are trying to do is link to the image on your hard drive signified by the d: in your original post.
You need to upload the image (host) it on a net capable server, there are many free ones, however if you put it on either of these two Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket http://imageshack.us/ It means we can help you. |

that could be because overheating ... can you check you cards temperatures?
You can use ATi Tool or ATi Tray Tools to get that info. |

It would also be a big help if you would provide the system specs of your PC. Motherboard? CPU? RAM? PSU? etc. Especially the PSU. We need detailed information on it, please.

Is that 76C at idle? If so, it will definitely be overheating when you start up a 3D game. Be sure to check that the fan is working and that the area is clear of any obstruction. You may want to leave the side cover off and place a small desk fan blowing directly at your card. If it's the card, you need to get with wherever you got it from and get it exchanged.

we need your temp under stress. if you havent already get a can of compressed air & blow out the card cooler(&everything else while you are at it
).fyi artifacts are usually caused by three probs - if they are happening in all games- card heat, bad card, power to the card issues.

+12V-1 = 10A +12V-2 = 13A ...there's not enough AMPS on the +12V rail for the video card. You need a PSU that has at least 20A or more to sustain the power to the video card. So, it could well be that your card is underpowered and not able to work properly. |

Just get you a much better PSU. I think it will solve the problems.

He Dyre straits,
Hmm that could be an obvious reason. If it wants more than what the 12V line can supply i should measure a Voltage drop on the Vcc pin not ?, i'll check it out |

I don't think it's the power supply.
To be sure i connected a separate PSU (Q-TEC PSU 450W) that can give 16A on +12V So only the X800 XT to this PSU Idle Vcc: 11,96 V under load Vcc: 11,94 V Nope, it's not the PSU.... |

It's not the voltage, but the AMPs that provide the needed power. You need to test with a PSU that provides no less than 20A. 28A would be better.
Good luck! |

Dyre Straits,
??? 20A would mean: 20x12 = 240 W power consumption of the X800XT only ?? |

temp is fine. that card soes not have high power req. so if you hooked up a seperate psu just for card it should do fine. bty you did bridge that 2nd psu so that it turned on rt?
![]() i know this sounds silly but try pulling the card , cleaning the contacts with alcohol, reinsert - making sure its in there firmally, & try again. also, do you have a buddy who would lend you a card? if so try that, should tell us everything we need to know.

i had my x800xtpe for a year running on 14A generic 420w psu, never had any artifacts (only flickering of polygons when overclocking too far, same for my 9800pro)
a few min of overclocked load on my weak psu, & i'd freeze, but not artifact oh & i've reached 93 degrees without problems hm what if.. the heatsink isnt on all of the chip, & the ati demos use some rarely used area of the chip (or maybe that's just a crazy theory) & have you played with catalyst AI being off/on? EDIT: does it artifact instantly or over time? |

Hi kn00tcn / mike2h
it always did this fro these demo's and it is not random. The artefact (flickering small blocks) show up at the same place on the screen, so they don't move with the 3D graphics. I get crazy of it and i think it is happening since i run directx9.0 I remember that when i used the opengl driver for a game (unreal?... i'm not sure, i will re install it to check) it does not show but with direct3D it shows ... Could directx9.0c be an issue with the X800XT. I currently use the omega drivers as they seem to work better with AGP cards (mine is a AGP version). I'll not sleep before i find out what this is about... Quote:

have you reinstalled the latest directx?
hm if they stay in the same place, that sounds like driver/dx issue |
