System Specs

HD 3870 X2 dual monitor

I have built a new system recently, but I'm having trouble getting dual mornitors to work off the 3870 X2 card.

My setup:
2x 19" Samsung Syncmaster 910N (vga cables - not dvi)
Core 2 Quad 6600
Asus Maximus motherboard
4x1gb DDR2 800
2x 500Gb Samsung SATA Hard Drives
Windows XP 64-bit

My main use at the moment on this PC is for 3D engineering drawings, and 2 monitors would be really useful.
Whenever I try to enable the second monitor, I get a message saying "crossfire is currently enabled. Before you can enable an extended desktop you need to disable crossfire".
There is no crossfire section in the ati control centre though! I thought this card ran crossfire transparently to the operating system.
My driver version is 8.451.0.0 dated 20/12/2007. This seems old to me...

Anyone got any advice?
Cheers.

I heard the big feature of the next Catalyst driver is multi monitor and multi gpu at the same time. So if you dont mind waiting a little while you wont need to choose between them...

Looks like I have sorted it...

Bit stupid on my part really. In the control centre, it shows 4 displays numbered 1 to 4. I was trying to select monitor 2 to extend my display onto, and that is when I was getting the error about crossfire! Turns out, the monitor I should have been choosing was monitor 4! I chose that one and straight away the screen fired up and its running sweet!

Thanks anyway.
