48 degrees isn't too hot for a graphics card. Is this under load or idle.
If it's in idle I would consider a 3rd party cooling solution, otherwise I reckon it's fine. My own card was running 40*C idle, and reaching 70*C under load. When I equipped it with another cooler the temps dropped 10 degrees. So, when 48*C is under load, I don't think there is any problem.

You think that's hot?
My HIS Hightech HD 2600XT "Zalman" was hitting over 100C under load, and idling around 70C. I'd had a Zalman on an older card that was awesome (700ALCU I think), so I ordered this one preloaded with the Zalman. Turns out it was a Zalman, but not any Zalman anyone in their right mind would buy. 1/2 the size of a normal Zalman, and dinky as crud. To save the life of my video card, I ordered a MassCool VF1-Plus. It doesn't fit exactly, but I made it work by using a combination of the provided bracketry and bending a few fins slightly. It sits at an angle now :P... Unfortunately, there aren't many fans available that fit a 2600xt out of the box. Now my 2600XT idles at 30C and hits only about 50C under full load. |
