Question for 3870 x2 owners

Gentelmen (and any Ladies present),

I recently purchased a Sapphire 3870 X2, and there were a few things that have kind of raised a red flag for me.

Could you folks kindly answer a few basic questions I have please?

1. Was the box it comes in Shrink wrapped?

2. Was there any sort of seal on the anti-static bag that the card is in?

3. Was there anything inside the brown box other than cd's, adapters, and cables?

Thank you for your time.

The Box my friend got wasnt shrink wrapped but there was a seal on the anti static bag (isnt this standard procedure though to ensure the card is brand new?)

I don't think he had anything else in the box, a free game, driver cd, cables etc. Did you get something else in yours?

No, nothing else than the things you just stated.

A question in return: Does anyone get a lot of artifacting with Call Of Duty 4 (mainly, other games seem less affected)? My card tends to go nuts in multiplayer games with artifacting everywhere, even when the card is at 50°C (monitored with RivaTuner). I'm wondering if it's the game, the card or just my system (full system specs on the left).

OK, I talked to "The Egg", and voiced my concerns.

1. The seal on one end of the box was broken.

2. The anti-static bag had no seal at all.

3. The envelopes containing the DRIVER CD, and 3DMark CD, were opened.

That lead me to believe that if nothing else, it had been opened before it reached me, and possibly used. I could see no evidence that it had been installed, but really didn't look that closely.

After I voiced my concern, "The Egg's" rep offered to replace it without me asking for him to do so, which I am doing.

It was 'wham, bam, thankya maam'. A no BS approach, and quickly handled. Probably took all of 10 minutes over their online chat.

Major props to "The Egg"!

It's one thing to praise the guy for his service, and on a per customer basis I like it, but then you have to realize that it means squat overall as it's probably this exact same service that got you the "possible RMA'd" card in the first place. More than likely they offered this same level of service to someone else to RMA that card back to them, they in turn sold it to you, and now you are RMA'ing that card back, again. Want to guess where that card goes next? And, what's your chances of getting another possibly RMA'd card again? Scary thought, no?
