3870 x2 Refresh rates

I'm needing a bit of help here folks.

I have a Sony FW900 monitor, and I'd really like to run my desktop at 1440x900x85hz. Reason being that 1280x800 is just too damned big, and 1680x1050 is too small for my tired old eyes.

Now I had no problem getting 1440x900x85hz on my X1950, but with the 3870 all I can get is 60hz, which would be OK for a LCD but is worthless on a CRT.

I've loaded the FW900 drivers to no avail. I did look at the "List of valid modes" in Display properties/Advanced/Adapter and all it shows for 1440x900 is 60hz. This is leading me to think that ATI isn't allowing for anything other than 60hz for that resolution.

Is there anyway to get around this limitation? Maybe a registry tweak or something?

OH...I have this problem with XP Pro, and XP Pro x64. Any help would be gratefully accepted.

Best way to test that would be removing the remove the mark from "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display" and see if you can force it that way.

I've tried those, and neiither will do the job.

I'm thinking that it's definately in the 3870 Drivers.

It seems like they concentrate on LCD resolutions/refresh rates, and seem to have forgotten that CRTs still exist

There is a Refresh lock function in ATI Tray Tools, maybe it will work for you.
