Cannot update ATI RAdeon Xpress 200M driver

I've a real problem I hope you'll help me solve quickly. I'm a bit of a newbie on driver/graphics topics. Extract from my dxdiag report is shown at the end of my post.

1 Original problem: my laptop would not clone to plasma TV via RGB link despite displaying screensaver, drag mouse off laptop screen onto ext monitor/TV display [I forget name of this mode]. Fujitsu said I needed to update my driver for graphics card [ATI RADEON XPRESS 200M]. I found the main driver to be ati2dvag.dll v 6.14.0010.6542

2 ATI site indicated I should download Catalyst 8.10 Hotfix. I followed instructions [i] to upgrade to Microsoft.net 6.0, [ii] to uninstall existing ati drivers through Add/Remove programs [leaving ATI Software Uninstall Utility] - note: these files located in C:\Program Files\ATI
[iii] then downloaded the full Suite and also the smaller 13.5MB component update [8-10_xp32_dd_69561]. I noticed later that these have been put in C\ATI When I ran Setup, I got Severe warning "Setup did not find a driver compatible with your current hardware or operating system. Setup will now exit." Looking at dxdiag, the driver was unchanged and it would still not clone to plasma.

3 I registered for ATI/AMD forum and an experienced member gave me the link to ths site and Mobility Modder download which seemed likely to solve my problem. I followed the instruction steps provided, firstly trying to run setup with 8-10_xp32_dd_69561 folder. This had no effect. I then ran Modder with the folder 8-10-igp_xp32_dd_ccc_wdm...........enu_69561. This went through a lengthier process but the outcome has been that:

[i] It has installed as main driver a file called vga.dll v 5.01.2600.0000 [which has a 2004 date compared with my original 2005 driver ati2dvag.dll]
[ii] my screen display is not so good but the laptop clones
[iii] when I Restart, I keep getting a Found New Hardware Wizard which is described as Video Controller [VGA Comaptible] and Windows wants to search everywhere for new software.

Clearly, this can't be right. Can you please tell me in simple steps how to get the Modder to work in these circumstances or otherwise update my graphics driver.

Thanks
