4870x2 RMA now back.

I've had some issues with drivers with this card before, but those problems got solved recently here on the forums. Still, I had to reboot my PC often even after that, because of games just opening up in a black full screen (crtl alt del didn't help).

But now, I think the card has died on me. let me explain.

While GPU and CPU were almost at idle, I suddenly began seeing some weird red dots on the screen. Then the dots also formed around my mouse, and then I got tears of white lines over my screen. I quickly opened CCC to look at temps but it was around 63° (pretty normal for this card I believe?).
After that I shut down the PC.

When I wanted to start it up again, my monitor didn't show a signal (orange led instead of blue). I tried reconnecting cables, from one DVI exit to the other on the card, and then VGA and even both at the same time, but none of it worked. So I thought, maybe my monitors bad? But I had the same results on my TV screen. My monitor worked with another pc though, so that wasn't the issue.

I've also tried deconnecting and replacing the GPU, but that did'nt help. I checked all connections internally in my PC, but that was all still ok.

Now my question to you is, do you recognize this problem? Is it my GPU, or is it bad RAM, HDD, CPU, or whatever?

This was my first build so I'm very unsure about everything.

My specs are on the left. Help will be quite appreciated,

If I've forgot to mention something important , please let me know.

Thanks

graphical tearing, sounds like the VRAM has gone bad, if you have already reformatted, id RMA the card.

Oh God, that's so annoying, but I think you're right. I've sent an RMA request to the website I bought it from with a description of the issue.

Thanks for your thoughts on this.

I got a new card through RMA. I still have the new drivers from my old card installed.

Do I have to reinstall it on this new card or will they be recognised automatically?

By the way, where can you see which driver you got installed exactly?

If its the same card (same ID) it should just work fine. windows might throw up a reinstallation bar for the drivers and ask for a restart (it can be a bit daft at times), but its normally painless enough.

I don't remember the ID. Windows did a check on my C: disk when I first booted.

Anyway, I tried GTA4 and it runs nice better than before, so I think its all good.

Re: 4870x2 RMA now back.

You mentioned you tried your monitor on another pc and it worked. Is there any chance you can try to install this vid card on the other pc?
