X600 M22/M24 driver Problem

Hi Everyone,
I see from reading this site for awhile that everyone is smarter than I.
I get around just fine on my own on repairs but there is so much more of the language that makes my eyeballs twirl, so I will listen more than talk.

This is my first post and I hope it's in the right place.

My big problem is, When I load my x600 drivers, the screen goes black on reboot.
I have tried everything that I have read here and other Forums but still NG.

If anything new come along I would love to be notified.

I have a Compaq nx9600 that has the same card as you listed.
Were you running windows 7 when this happened?
That's when I first had problems. As soon as I installed windows 7 and got to my desktop the first time, it saw my video card and offered an udpate for it which I happily accepted. When prompted for a reboot I did so.
Everything was good up to the loading windows logo. After that it was all black. I could even hear the audio of it loading my desktop. I rebooted, and went into safe mode, removed the video driver, and rebooted. I could see the desktop as long as I was using standard vga drivers.(1280x1024 was highest resolution.) For kicks I let windows update do it's thing again...and after the reboot I had a black screen again. For kicks I hooked up a monitor to the vga port on the back of my laptop and THERE was my picture! It looked great on the 17" lcd with the right resolution and everything and even autodetected the monitor model correctly.(still black screen on the laptop lcd though) Since I don't want to carry around an extra lcd monitor, I ended up putting on old drivers for windows xp from HP's support site. At least now my laptop lcd works, but I can't use aero and certain programs give me a blue screen and call out some dll with ati in the name. I thought about getting drivers off ati, but they say they don't support integrated cards and I have to contact the laptop manufacturer. Does anyone know if and where some guru might be making custom drivers?

This has been happening to a few different pieces of hardware out there that I have noticed. On my 8600GT that I used to run I got the same problem running in Windows Vista 64 Ultimate. The best solution for mine was to switch to the VGA side of my monitor. For some reason I got a black screen on the DVI side. So unless you are already plugged in via VGA try switching to VGA and see what happens....I think It might be a resolution thing where Vista sets the resolution too high for the size of the monitor and if it does that then the monitor will not display anything. Especially LCD's which, for the most part, will never display any resolution that is not native to the screen size ie. a huge resolution on a tiny monitor or something. Generally the response to this, in my experience is for the monitor to just not display anything.

have same thing have x600 256 used hp drivers for video still black screen an use the mod drivers from here but it dont install the catlyist
