x700 memory
Hi every1,
I know this is old, old card, but I'll appreciate if some1 can help me. I have Acer Travelmate 4401 laptop with x700. It came with 64 MB dedicated video memory. I don't have any settings in the BIOS to adjust amount for memory there. I have 1,5 GB memory installed on the system. My question is, is there a way to use some of my RAM as a memory for my video? I know certain laptops support that in the BIOS, but since I don't have it there is there a tool that will allow me to do that? I downloaded and installed Omega driver, work like a charm, but if there is such a setting there, I am stupid enough and cant find it. Please help. Thanks in advance to any suggestions. |

Re: x700 memory
by default.. when the dedicated memory runs out... the machine should auto address additional memory from ram to load additional textures and such.... but x700 is getting quite dated and you should be running minimum graphical settings.
unless your trying to get something worked out so that you can use vista's aero on it... then your kinda hooped... you'll have to contact the manufacturer of your laptop

Re: x700 memory
hi, thanks for the replay,
actually my problem is that there is a game (NWN2) that will check how much video memory computer has and I know my card will run it, just this memory amount check stops it so I want to "lie" this game that I have 128 MB , by allocating some of my Ram to the video memory. I think is called Hypermemory or something like that, just don't know what tool to use to unlock this on my card Using Windows XP SP3 Turion 1.6Ghz 1.5 GB Ram x700 64MB latest Omega Drivers (installed them 1 week ago) 15.4" laptop + 22" external LCD |

Re: x700 memory
i haven't really figured out a way to confuse a program into doing anything aside from bypassing the checks completely via either running the program directly or trying to find some cmd line or parameters that allow one to bypass them

Re: x700 memory
Interesting. To my knowledge there isn't anything that I have in my software arsenal outside of the aformentioned solutions that Judas has to remedy this issue.

Re: x700 memory
HI. Since the X700 is an old came out in 2004, I suggest you get Mobility Catalyst 5.12 and Tweak with Ati Tray Tool
