Hi im New guys i need help i just fixed my lil brothers laptop it says Standard Vga Adapter Its a Ati Mobility radeon he likes to play games on it. i wanted to know if there is a video card update i went to the manufacture site toshiba but they dont have a driver update for it then i went to ati theydont have the driver either oh and another thing the game my brother plays is maple story somthin likethat i went to can you run it it passed and failed video card: Standard Vga adapter 3d acceleration required is there a fix for that or somthing help me my brother needs something to play hes bbored Operating System: Windows Vista™ Home Basic (6.0, Build 6001) Service Pack 1 (6001.vistasp1_gdr.090302-1506)

according to the toshiba information... the Mobility is a M6C ATI adapter... which is based on the ATI Radeon 7000 series...

Nothing from the 9250 and below is supported in windows Vista.. at all.. you MUST manually install the 7000 series driver via selecting it from a hardware list.. however this will give you VERY poor performance... basically making you unable to play games yet..

This laptop was never intended for Windows Vista.. and i HIGHLY recommend you remove vista and reinstall XP, otherwise your stuck without being able to play game....

I'm sorry... Technically speaking, support for your product vanished about 3 years ago... with the 6.5/6.11 Catalyst drivers being the last to support it.

They are actually starting to discontinue the x1xxx series and below now to for driver updates and the lot.

thanks what about if i put windows 2000 then i can get the driver? my brother erased windows xp home edition file thats why i put vista on it ok i figured why my brother cant play this game he loves maple story. the game requires Video Card 3D Acceleration in the video card doesnt have it i wonder if it was away i can get it to work

The laptop should still have a valid Windows XP CD key label on the bottom correct?

If so, if you can find a windows XP CD that matches what the label has (making sure it's a OEM CD)... you could easily reinstall windows XP on the machine... it would be much more preferrable over windows 2000.

But to answer your question, Windows 2000 would have support for it.. you'd just need to download the 6.11 or 6.5 (try the 6.11's first.. if nothing works try the 6.5's next) for the desktop drivers.... then use the ATI Mobility Modder available on Driverheaven to mod the packages so you can install them under windows 2000 or windows xp.

im going to install window 2000 hey man thanks ill try in see but if i could get them to work would 3d acelleration? be enable i used dxdiag it has not available for direct 3d in stuff but ill try the ati drivers

soon as you install windows xp or 2000 and then MOD the set of ATI drivers i recommend, you should be fully 3D accelerated
