Hi. I Wanna upgrade my rig by buying another graphic card.

I already have the Sapphire Radeon HD 4870 VaporX 2GB card and im wondering what card i should get to add to the set up.

Im thinking about about either getting another Sapphire Radeon HD 4870 VaporX 2 Gb or if i should get a Radeon HD 4870x2 2Gb?

what do you think and suggest guys?

I have a PLAZIR Silent 800W 135mm Fan PSU.

If you get another 2Gb card you might have some issues if you are using 32-bit Windows. Since 32-bit windows can handle maximum of 4Gb of RAM, that includes the RAM on the GFX card and on the mobo. But I recommend you to get another HD 4870 VaporX

I would be tempted to go with Teme's advise and pick up another HD 4870 VaporX 2G

Im just thinking when the Hd 4870x2 is better that the hd 4870 Vaporx 2Gb, it would improve the performance.

The HD 4870 and the HD 4870x2 are certified by ati as a Working solution.

if you have a 2gb hd4870..... you should try and find a hd4870x2 4gb to match memory wise.... the result should nearly triple your overall 3d performance

Haven't been able to find one with 4GB of RAM so im thinking that they do not exist. But if they do I'm sure they aren't easy to come by.

I'm thinking that I would go for the 4870x2 if you can swing it. I don't know if there is a slight overall performance hit (you most likely wouldn't even notice it) if you go with an x2 vs just a regular 4870. But like I said it will still be a faster solution than what you currently have of course. I just don't know how that performance scales.

personally i would wait... the hd4870 you've got is a powerful monster... and while the prospect of more power is inticing.. specially at the relatively low cost...... the newer GPUS are just about rounding the corner.... so if you can survive for a few... you could likely get an x2 for considerably less in a very short period of time or get a single newer more feature rich and more powerful video card.

I would get a 4870X2 over 2 4870 but unless you play at very high resolutions or you just NEED the extra performance, I would wait to see how the next generation of cards is.

indeed a single X2 is better then 2x...

However the 2gb of video ram per chip has it's major advantages when it comes to such games like GTAIV

so it's a toss up...

The more the better.... the but the real question is.... do you have a budget... is money really a factor..... do your REALLY need that much horse power.... obviously if you have the PSU and the money, a HD4870x2 would be the best likely. 3 GPU's better then 2..... But the problem is that tracking down a HD4870x2 with 4gb memory (2x2gb) that matches up with your current Hd4870 will be the most difficult and expensive. Cause if you stick in a HD4870x2 with only 2gb (2x1gb), 1gb of the 2 on your current card will be unused.

Honestly, we can't make the dicision for you..... sorry..... it's a toss up between the 2...... more memory with 2 GPU's or Less memory with 3 GPUs...... OR find a x2 with 4gb For both benifits....

A Desire to Game

Easy Decision. Get the 4870 2gb. Triple Crossfire isn't going to give you the performance boost you are going to want. It will give you more MAX FPS, but your MIN FPS prolly won't change a whole heck of a lot. Save the money. Go with the extra 4870 2gb instead.
