Sad Triplex Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb AGP - help for drivers

Hi, I bought a second-hand Triplex Radeon 9800 Pro which didn't come with an installation CD. I tried the Catalyst drivers but they always end with an error (eg. not compatible with current display adapter(s)). Are there specific drivers for this card and if there are can anyone point me to the right direction in installing this - I've been trying for almost a week.

If someone has the CD for this card - could they kindly upload the driver files/setup?

Thanks

Which OS do you have?

If it's 98 / 98SE or ME then you should be using the 6.2 drivers.

Edit: Almost forgot. Hi random0guy and welcome to the marvelous DriverHeaven universe!!

Re: Triplex Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb AGP - help for drivers

Windows XP SP2

Tried the 9.3 and 8.8 Catalyst drivers - both are interrupted with the same error:

Severe
This display driver is not compatible with the display adapter(s) installed in your system.

In Device manager there are 3 adapters - 2 "Video Controller"s (one says "VGA compatible) and one that simply says "vga" (I think this is VgaSave). Are there any other drivers - I have tried Omega and NGO Optimized drivers.

Re: Triplex Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb AGP - help for drivers

Sorry, the information I have is that 9.3 should be the correct driver set for XP. You could try the 6.2s though and see if it helps. Also, if you still do not have any joy then try dropping Triplex a support question via their web service here.

Good luck!

Re: Triplex Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb AGP - help for drivers

6.2 didn't work and I tried the Triplex support before. I filled in some details but it wouldn't send (maybe I had to check a box - this is a problem since they are all newer products). I might try to email them, but if it doesn't work, I'll try to get a refund hopefully.

I can't remember what drivers I used for my Radeon 9800 128 been so long ago but they were official Cat drivers.

This is in fact an ATI based card so moving it to that section hope you get it sorted.

And welcome to DH

Re: Triplex Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb AGP - help for drivers

I just realised I've still got a Sapphire 9800 PRO with the original driver disks. They're all in the original box waiting for me to ebay them for the last 3 years. I'm just waiting for the price to hit the bottom before I do the auction

Anyways, I have two different installtion disks (from two different 9800 PROs and will post the most recent disk as an attachment.

I just checked before I posted and it has 4.8 drivers (from the most recent disk)

I'll edit with the attachment

Edit: I've got a wee problem that I need to workaround. The folder is 700MB and 450MB zipped (over 2,000 files)

Random0guy I have asked cozumel to PM you to see if this will help. If filefront or another solution won't work let me know and I will help as I can. I do have some webspace of my own.

Re: Triplex Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb AGP - help for drivers

Wow, thanks you guys - you're really helpful. If you (cozumel) actually uploads the disk, I would be so grateful - this is probably the most helpful thing I could find.

So don't the Manufacter details matter - like, if it's made by Triplex (mine), will your drivers work? And why is it 700mb, what else is on the CD. Just wondering :P

Thank you guys

Re: Triplex Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb AGP - help for drivers

Hi ramd0mguy,

I am uploading all the files right now. Reason so many files - contains directx, gart, os specifics' language options etc and I am concerned if I don't upload the whole package then the installer would fail. Might it fail anyhow due to Manufacturer details? Well yes, there is that possibility. And I was waiting for you to return before uploading as this takes time and as you are a noob at DH I wanted to make sure you were not disappearing.

Edit: Dammit, I've been uploading the unzipped contents by accident. Oh well. I shall have to finish it unzipped I guess

Edit: Thanks Mac Daddy

Because, among other things, it most likely has .NET on it. You DO have .NET installed don't you? It's required for the Catalyst Control Center.

Re: Triplex Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb AGP - help for drivers

Hi random0guy.
Just an idea: you might want to try disabling the integrated video card (or set AGP as primary in BIOS), maybe that's causing the problems for the installation of ATI drivers.
I also own a Radeon 9800 Pro and I'm using Catalyst 8.12 on XP SP3. Good luck.

Re: Triplex Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb AGP - help for drivers

I already set the BIOS to boot from AGP. In device manager it shows up as Video Controller (2 of them). The main error is something to do with the ATI drivers not being compatible, it's really confusing me but I'll just wait for cozumel.

Re: Triplex Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb AGP - help for drivers

Hi.

Here is the link to download the driver installation. All folders and files compressed into one zip file!!! I got most of the way through uploading then closed the tab by accident (after 3 hours of upload) . Then next upload it got to the end at the same time as me downloading a new copy of Windows 7 and caused the 'redirect for link' to fail . So this was the third upload lol

I hope it works. Let me know either way.

And also just to confirm what you said in response to IvanV. The IGP (if applicable) has been disabled from within the BIOS.

Edit: Link removed

Hopefully we will be okay now. It was just the size of the file size as most upload sites have a max 100MB file limit (for the free versions). I was surprised filedropper went up to 5GB.

Re: Triplex Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb AGP - help for drivers

k thanks. This download is going soooooo slow...I had to download it again since the first try suddenly just froze at around 70% () and so I had to re-download it. It's been going since around 2pm, now it's almost 11 and there's another 7 hours to go! Speeds are under 10kbps! I didn't want to leave my pc on overnight but I guess I'll have to and I hope that it works tomorrow. I really do, becuase I haven't received a reply from Triplex or from the person that sold it to me (regarding refund).

Sorry, cozumel for making you go through that for nothing .
It's probably something with my PC since it seems that everyone else gets it to work fine.

okay random0guy. Sorry to hear that.

Are you sure the bios is configured correctly? If it is, then either the card is bad, your agp slot is not operating correctly or Triplex have their own unique driver (highly unlikely).

Were you using an AGP card before or onboard IGP? Which motherboard are you using?

Re: Triplex Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb AGP - help for drivers

Onboard Card - VIA/S3 Unichrome IGP
Motherboard details (according to Everest):
Motherboard:
CPU Type: Unknown, 1666 MHz (10 x 167) 2400+
Motherboard Name: Unknown
Motherboard Chipset: VIA UniChrome KM266 Pro / KM400(A) / KN400(A)
System Memory: 1024 MB (PC3200 DDR SDRAM)
BIOS Type: Award (01/05/05)
Communication Port: Communications Port (COM1)
Communication Port: ECP Printer Port (LPT1)

Everest seems to show that my graphics card is a Radeon 9800 Pro although Device Manager doesn't show this (video controller).

Re: Triplex Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb AGP - help for drivers

okay, don't have a clue what board that is - probably an oem board used by a system manufacturer (what manufacturer & model pc is it?).

Anyhow, could you double check all your graphics settings within the BIOS maybe even post a picture of your BIOS screens if you are not sure about the settings.

Also, if this is the first time you have installed an AGP card on this board it could be possible you have several years-worth of dust inside the AGP slot and maybe blowing out the dust with a compressed air can could help.

Finally, maybe try temporarily removing any additional PCI cards you have installed in case they are causing a conflict (sharing IRQs).
