What's your budget...$50? What size monitor/resolution? What games and level of detail?

yes what is the price range your looking at because on newegg the 9500gt 1ghz is 59bucks while the 4650 is 49 bucks i think the 4650 is a better card..but theres better cards for a little more money..
9500gt Newegg.com - XFX PVT95GZAFG GeForce 9500 GT 1GB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express 2.0 x16 Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards 4650 http://http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150414 a little more you can get this 9800gt http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16814150316R

As far as reviews go, I think that you'll find a very fine selection on this very site.
ATI 4650 ATI 4670 Nvidia 9500GT (seriously overclocked) The two Radeons should have roughly twice the power of 9500GT. EDIT: The second link in Big T's post should go http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150414. ![]() EDIT 2: Looks like I misjudged the situation, 4650 is not that far ahead of 9500GT, though it is faster. The 4670 is a nice step away from it, though.

for $10-15 more you can get a 4670 which is much faster or for about 90-100 you can get a 9800gt. If you are gonna do gaming 4670 is the lowest card i suggest getting

Re: XFX ATi Redeon 4650 1gb Vs xfx 9500GT 1gb
1. if you aim for the 4650, get one with GDDR3, not DDR2 (ie. NOT XFX)! if you insist on 1GB, DDR3, not DDR2. the same with the 4670.
2. if you can spend up to $100, get the 4770 - clocks same as 4670 (750mhz; 4650 600mhz), but GDDR5 - 160% of 4670's GDDR3 bandwidth. 3. if 1GB is essential, there are 4830s, 4850s and 9800gt-s for about the same price as the 4770 with GDDR3 Last edited by necrophyte; Aug 4, 2009 at 12:30 PM. |

I would suggest saving your money and at least getting a 4770 or 4850. Those other cards are just going to leave you wanting more.

Re: XFX ATi Redeon 4650 1gb Vs xfx 9500GT 1gb
There's always something better around the corner. If he needs a graphics card now and is on a very tight budget, this 4650 is only $41 after rebate and I think that it's a decent performer and very good value: Newegg.com - MSI R4650-MD512 Radeon HD 4650 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards (there a few other similar cards with similar deals).
If there is some more money to spare on this, 4670 is about 25% faster and can be had for $55 (again after rebate): Newegg.com - MSI R4670-2D512/D3 Radeon HD 4670 512MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards Finally, if we can stretch things a little further, this 4830 has nearly twice the power of 4650 and goes for the price of $85: Newegg.com - MSI R4830-T2D512 Radeon HD 4830 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards and for only $5 more after rebate this (slightly overclocked) 4850 that's currently on sale offers almost 3 times the power of 4650 and I think that that's great value and a card that should keep the buyer with reasonable expectations happy for awhile: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127414
