Scared S(!tless (Sorry A Litte Long)
So after time away I decided to jump back in to PC Gaming, So I fired up New Egg bought all new parts and had my machine up and ready to go on the 5th of July, and have been playing non stop ever since. I have had no problems, no slow downs, no heat problems, nothing. My ATI 4890 stays an ice cool 47 C under load. So to make a long story shorter, I am playing World of Warcraft
last night for hours, no issuses nothing, when I go up to the Argent Tournament grounds. I turned the corner and boom there it is hanging out of the wall into the sky. An artifact, looked like an L, I know how to put things together, I know how to install windows and set it up, but that is about where my tech savvyness ends, I FREAKED OUT. I was like oh crap my video card is going bad. I ran past the artifact, and looked back and it was still there the artifact did not move. I went on up the path way turned around and it gone, ran back and it was in the same spot. I logged out thinking my card is messing up and shut down my pc. I did check my CCC before I logged and my card temp was 40 c, I keep my card fan speed at 45 constant. I am writing this as I am logged on to the game now, also my pc has been off for about 12 hours, and the artifact is not there. SO my questions to all of you is this: 1..... Was this just a glitch and my OCD is haywire (Cross Fingers) and that artfact does not mean my card is going out? 2...... Is there a way to test my card? To see if something is wrong? To put my OCD at ease? Thanks for replys, I hope I am over reacting, but I would hate to be computer less while I rma'd this sucker. I tried posting this on another supposed 3D gaming site and got jokes, and garbage. Can anyone give me a straight answer please? |

probably an in game texture issue, does the card show any other signs of artifacting?

Re: Scared S(!tless (Sorry A Litte Long)
that kind of stuff happens all the time....... if it has stopped appearing then great! usually its probably a game texture issue or problems in the WoW server..... more a software problem than hardware......
if there was tearing then the GPU might be going out..... but the description means there was none at all. at most that issue probably was just some artifact caused by conflicts between CCC and the in-game settings.... alot of people have graphical issues because of such conflicts and are remedied when CCC is uninstalled leaving just the GPU driver. ill probably uninstall CCC one of these days since i never really turn up anything in there anyways..... lastly, welcome Biasmania! Welcome to DH! you probably should post your full system specs in your profile sometime........

Re: Scared S(!tless (Sorry A Litte Long)
When my 4870 X2 artifacts or crashes, I just kick my pc case and restart the thing. I wouldn't worry about it. PC's do wierd things all the time.

Re: Scared S(!tless (Sorry A Litte Long)
this is likely just a off chance game glitch.. it happens.... i've seen 100% reliable zero issue machines show weird things out of the blue and sometimes not easily reproduceable things in WoW and other mmo's... mmo's aren't exactly the best well programmed peices of software.... way way to many things can go easily wrong with them.
