Manufacturers of the 4870

Hey guys, this is my first thread on these forums! Lately I've been trying to put together a new computer system. The Video Card I've chosen at this point based on all-around value atm is the 4870.

So I'm looking at buying this card online, and the one thing I've noticed is the various manufacturers of the card. Now I know that mostly its a matter of opinion, but anyone have a thought on which Manufacturer is this best value at the moment?

Thanks guys.

Re: Manufacturers of the 4870

Sapphire for me I've been a big fan of Sapphire since I found out that the X1900XTX by Sapphire was the highest benchmarking X1900 way back when the X1000 series was the best ATI card out. If I don't change to NVidia in the dim and distant future when I can afford to upgrade to a Core iX series I'll be using the next-gen Sapphire card.

Bear in mind that the 4870 is prone to running very warm on stock coolers - temperatures of 80 degrees C are not uncommon! I'm currently idling at 45 degrees, though it is a warm night.

Sapphire.
As Takaharu said, be careful with the fan settings. I STRONGLY suggest you set the fan to manual to at least 50% while gaming. The auto fan SUCKS and it will let the card reach 90C easily.

Do a google search on AMD Eyefinity. What you find just might make you forget that nVidia even exists

Re: Manufacturers of the 4870

Thanks guys. So I'm gathering that Sapphire is the crowd favorite. :P At this point its between them and XFX. I like XFX for the double lifetime warranty, but from what I heard Sapphire seems to generally have a better cooling system. That being said, if the XFX card burnsout I guess I can just get a new one from the warranty :P

Re: Manufacturers of the 4870

You have to be very unlucky for any card to die on you. I had only once have a graphics card die (slowly), my first Geforce 256DDR, but I think that was a creative labs' thing than anything else. I also had a DVD rom and a soundcard from them that died.

XFX is very good from what I hear so you should be fine with them too.
