My 4650 has found a good home
I won a Radeon 4650 at the spamming competition a while back, and though I tested it, and tried to see what overclock I can get, it ultimately was considerably slower than my 3870. It lasted for a while as a second card, in the hope I'll do some GPGPU on it (since it's more advanced than the 3870 in that respect), but I never got around to that.
Now it's found a place in my brother in law's PC. His Radeon X1800XT has been acting up for a while, causing crashes and freezes during gameplay, so I gave him the 4650, and he's quite satisfied with it (because unlike the X1800XT, it works). I have no idea if it's an upgrade in terms of performance or a downgrade (since it has a lot more computing power but a third the memory bandwidth of the X1800XT), but I think it'll work out fine. My brother in law plays a lot of games, but he doesn't understand much about graphics options, typically running at 1024x768 with default options. |

The X1800XT is quite the card.
I don't know what else to say....happy gaming to your brother in law.

Re: My 4650 has found a good home
I no longer remember. I think there's a post somewhere on these forums detailing them. They weren't anything special. I do remember that the Windows 7 performance test really stressed the card, and caused it to fail at overclocks where games like Assassin's Creed ran fine.
