PLEASE tell me HOW to disable WDDM1.1 in Windows 7 (ATI HD3450)

I'm so tired of WDDM1.1. With Catalyst >= 9.3 my experience with an ATI HD3450 in Windows 7 has been horrible. I have done lots of tests and I'm sure the culprit is WDDM1.1.

In Windows 7
With Catalyst 9.2 (WDDM1.0) and earlier -> Everything works ok WITH AND WITHOUT AERO. Dxdiag program shows WDDM 1.0 is in use.

With Catalyst 9.3 (WDDM1.1) onwards -> Everything works ok WITHOUT AERO. Lots of problems and BSOD with AERO. (I can't even resize a window without freeze the PC) Dxdiag program shows WDDM 1.1 is in use.

In Windows Vista/XP
Everything works OK with any Catalyst version also with AERO in Vista.

Since in Catalyst 9.3 WDDM1.0 and WDDM1.1 are together I can't choice to install only WDDM1.0 so my question is: How ATI drivers know in which Windows are been installed and how I can 'cheat' them? (compatibility mode doesn't work)

as far as i know Windows 7 uses 1.1 Vista and such use 1.0

The main difference between them is the usage of DX10 in Aero, I can't understand what would be the issue with your card otherwise(updating DX 10 might [I stress might] help).. Could you try running some games (DX10 game if possible) in Win7 with the newer drivers (with aero off of course) and see if that can cause the problem. Also run Furmark on your system for a while.

Thanks a lot for the info. I have updated directx to the last version ant the problem still continues. I tried with directx10 demo games and I can't play them either. Tom Clancy's Hawx runs good on Directx9 mode and freeze with Direcxt10 mode. So yeah, there is a problem with Directx10 and my PC.
My cheap ASUS Ah3450 has 512Mb DDR2 64bits VideoRAM. Could be this the problem?

Furmark uses OpenGl, right? Well I ran it for a while and it works ok.

strange bug.. sounds like a hardware problem, interestingly though it only effects the DX10 feature set. I would see about getting the card replaced, I believe Asus carries a 3 year warranty (at least in the US, not sure otherwise). Just to be sure it is a hardware issue,I would also test the DX10 games in Vista to be sure it isn't only effecting Win7.

And yeah Furmark is OpenGL, it is also a heavy stress test on Videocards when run for long durations on the stability test.

I could think of several ways of diagnosing the problem but I honestly think you should check into warranty first, otherwise there are bios options you could attempt, I would use the bios guide from rojak to learn about them.

If you have another PCIE slot, try that. I had weird issues with a 7800GTX preferring the bottom in Win 7. No BSOD but better performance. etc.

Just remember there are over 500 million transistors on a processor these days, it only takes a few going bad to cause very weird issues, I actually had the IMC of a Athlon 4400+ go bad, but you couldn't tell without changing the processor, because it always pointed to memory.
