Help me pick a (budget) card !
hey boys and gals
I currently have a Sapphire ATI Radeon HD2600xt 512mb DDR3 video card (stock) and am thinking of upgrading a little bit to get in on some of that sexy new technology. Thing is, I don't want to spend a lot. Would you happen to know a reliable card (ATI Radeon something something) with DDR4-5 memory (preferable 512 or more) and... well... a good reputation for speed/quality/heat_dispersion etc... ? I love ATI and I would love to get my hands on a new card so I don't have to put all my games to "Medium" instead of "MR. SULU, FULL SPEED AHEAD!" Budget is 150$ Canadian thanks ![]() EDIT --> for example, http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...S&promoid=1051 Sexy beast, 180$ - 20$ MIR = 160$ ... I can live with 10$ over budget hehe Would any of you recommend this "DARK KNIGHT" video card? Last edited by MitchRapp; Oct 13, 2009 at 08:55 PM. Reason: added link to potential purchase |

Re: Help me pick a (budget) card !
Yes , I think 4870 is the best choice for this price , I prefer XFX for quality and warranty, you can snap this before the instant rebate expires today(13/10/2009) so you will get it $139.99 after MIR.

5750 FTW Not quite as good in performance as the 4870, but will get closer as the drivers mature, PLUS it's DX11, and Eyefinity capable.Or for a wee bit over budget the 5770: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16814102858

Re: Help me pick a (budget) card !
The 500W Antec should be fine for the 57xx series. The 4870 requires (2) 6-pin PCIe power connectors. The 57xx's require (1), definitely the route to go in your position.

Re: Help me pick a (budget) card !
Yeah I would definitely go with the 57xx series if its within your budget. They are great cards and you will be effectively future proofing your card for a long time since DX11 is just rolling out now.

Re: Help me pick a (budget) card !
yeah if it is within your budget , better for it as above posts say less power consumption and better technology , DX 11. I didn't mention it before as I though it would be over your budget.
