Help with graphic card?!

Can ANYONE help me please? I have asus notebook who has two ATI graphic cards. One power saver-Ati radeon 3200 and high performance-Ati mobility radeon 4570. The problem is that i cant activate high performance one... Device manager says - Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. I have tried installing new drivers and all but it doesnt work... I have win 7 os, should I try to install vista...? If you need more info or something please ask...

Have you ever had the laptop cleaned inside..... could be the 4570 overheated at some point which wouldn't be a driver/OS problem.

Unless you know it worked perfectly in vista but not in Win7, I wouldn't switch OS.

But i got this new laptop few days ago... It couldnt be dirty... And I havent installed cds which i got with laptop cause its only for vista, so i downloaded drivers and updates from internet... Thats why I thinj installing Vista will solve the problem...

if you just got the system and its already having problems, return it. you shouldnt have to be fixing a new laptop in under a weeks time.

i agree its new so take it back.. that laptop should of been ready for you to do what ever it is your using it for and not having to add drivers to it.. btw welcome to DH..

Sorry, I didn't know it was new..... by all means, take it back, this is something for the seller/manufacturer to be dealing with.

This laptop had no OS when I got it so I had to isntall it all by myself... So I dont know is there really problem with graphic card or I cant make it work...

Did you download official drivers released by the manufacturer of the laptop?

I'd suggest that you go to the ASUS site. If it's a new laptop contact support. ASUS also has forums on the site where you can ask the question.

I'd suggest when posting to provide full information (this applies to posts here as well as at ASUS). The model of the laptop in particular would be helpful (k50ab?).

I downloaded those automatic updates (windows) and drivers from ati site...

Well not very good yet... Im searching for some drivers and if that doesnt work then I'll try to install vista, and if that doesnt work I'll take it back

Well let's put it this way. If it isn't working after you install all the proper ASUS drivers I wouldn't waste my time installing vista. If anything 7 is more compatible than Vista is so it would be my honest opinion for you to just call support after you have installed all of the ASUS drivers and talk to them about returning it.

I have similar notebook and the same problem. But only ATI Catalyst™ 9.9 are working on 100% (with Mobility Modder)
