DVI to VGA question

Hi, this is problably a stupid question but is there any benefit or purpose of using my DVI output with the converter for my VGA monitor? Or should I not even bother using it?

There was a reported problem over at rage3D with 9500's that was fixed by using the DVI port. Aside from that there's no benefit at all. I use DVI as I use a DVI/LCD screen
