re: ATi Catalyst Mobility 11.12 display drivers for notebook computers (13/12/2011)
Had to register to post a thank you for this driver. Was searching for some way to fix the graphic errors in Skyrim due to majorly outdated Acer Drivers (2009!!) for my ati4330m and had used modded inf's in past for my old notebook with nvidia card.
I didn't uninstall my previous driver and just installed over it as I was worried about my switchable graphics and wanted to try this way first (the easy way). I have tested both dedicated and discrete, they both work fine for me so far. Skyrim now plays without glitches and also a bit smoother, course the later is on feeling alone. my notebook setup: Acer Timeline 3820TG win 7 64b Core2Duo U9400 4GB DD3 RAM ATI4330m Anywho, thanks for keeping the drivers current for us, will check back regularly for updated drivers. Hi LQDForce,
Can't thank you enough. Followed your directions and my Toshiba Satellite (4200 HD hardware) is better than new. Win 7 Home Premium, 6Gig RAM. It was clear to me that Toshiba will not update drivers (probably never). THANKS! |

re: ATi Catalyst Mobility 11.12 display drivers for notebook computers (13/12/2011)
I'll start by thanking you LQDForce for the work you did here. It helped me tremendously a few weeks ago when I updated to the before-last update, and thanks to that I was able to play Skyrim instead of studying
![]() I was still having comparatively frequent crashes though, which I discovered where caused by the graphics card. So I tried to update them to the newest drivers, and that's where I basically jumped in a nasty creek, and I now need a paddle. My rig: Acer Aspire 8935G, Windows Vista SP2 (I meant to update to Windows 7 next week, but that's not the most important issue now), ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4670 and intel switchable graphics (the same as Obnoxious 2K7). So, like I said, a few weeks ago, I updated my two years old drivers to what was then the most recent update. I think I used the method suggested on the first page, and it worked fine, in the sense that I could use my computer like before, with switchable graphics and all. I tried to do update to the newest drivers an hour or so ago, and it didn't go so well. I first removed the old drivers, used driver cleaner, then installed the newest drivers. And now, the computer won't even get to the desktop. It goes up to the screen where windows is loading with the green bar, but then the screen goes dark, and I can't see anything happening, even though the computer is quite clearly turned on. The computer itself appears to work fine: I can hear the sounds of a computer turning on, and can even operate it. I inserted an audio CD, pressed enter since I knew it would play in VLC, and it worked fine. The only problem as far as I can tell is that I can't see anything. I even tried hooking up the laptop to an external monitor, and it doesn't help at all. So, I could do nohing, short of pressing the power button until the computer was turned off (which I know is not recommended, but I didn't really have a choice). I then tried booting up in safe mode, and the only difference is that I can see the mouse cursor at some point, but then it disappears once more. Any tips? I have a couple of suggestions, but I'd rather not do anything on my own. Pressing f8 when the laptop boots up brings up a list of possibilities, including safe mode. There's two that intrigue me: the first is fixing the computer, and the second is boot from the last safe configuration. Would either help? And I guess that the problem is with the HD4670 graphics card, which is the default graphics card. I also guess that the intel VGA is okay, begging the question: how can I choose what the default starting graphics card is? Thanks for any help! |

re: ATi Catalyst Mobility 11.12 display drivers for notebook computers (13/12/2011)
Well, if you check the official changelog for ATi Mobility drivers, you'd see that switchable graphics are not supported.
But... if you search this thread you'd also find a method I posted to enable support for switchable graphics. Check page 5 for more info. But first things first - bring your system back to life. Press F8 at windows logo screen, try system restore (last known good configuration). If that won't do it, try the regular safe mode (without network etc.) . when you get the system back online, remove all drivers (use driver sweeper method) , uninstall all ATi software and also intel drivers (for the switchable graphics). Now, try the method in page 5 . |

re: ATi Catalyst Mobility 11.12 display drivers for notebook computers (13/12/2011)
Thanks for answering so quickly, but your suggestions didn't help at all:
- Using the last known good configuration just leads to the same problem: the screen isn't working, but apparently everything else is. - After turning it off I tried safe mode, and it does something weird: it shows me a list of drivers (the last one on the list is AlfaFF.sys), then goes to a black screen with a mouse cursor, then restarts on its own. I realized that the switchable graphics weren't supported, but, since I didn't switch graphics cards at all (I usually use this laptop to play games, or occasionnaly watch DVDs, but I've never found a need to switch graphics card), I figured that it wouldn't make a difference (or that at worse it would disable the possibility for me to switch graphics cards, which wouldn't have been a very huge loss). I guess I was wrong on that point. |

Switchable HP dv6-4XXX / dv6-6XXX / dv7-5XXX / dv7-6XXX / ENVY 14-2XXX / ENVY 17-2XXX
All owners of the HP dv6-4XXX / dv6-6XXX / dv7-5XXX / dv7-6XXX / ENVY 14-2XXX / ENVY 17-2XXX (INTEL) notebooks should read this site first.
If you want to install the current driver package provided by AMD, download and install it on top of the HP release. This is done so that the switchable graphics feature can continue to operate properly. |

First of all, if I restart my computer after running driversweeper and removing the display drivers within a minute of logging in I get a pop-up that says "You must restart your computer," and allows me to restart now or later. If I restart, the next time I log in the original graphics driver from 2009 will be installed again (confirmed in device manager and driversweeper). This obviously makes it impossible to restart properly between steps in the process. I have tried the following: uninstalled ATI drivers using the uninstall utility, restarting, running driversweeper and removing files, then using the 64-bit file you linked in your OP to attempt to install the drivers again. However, this results in a problem others have mentioned where the Catalyst Install Manager (CIM) is installed, but CCC and any actual display drivers are not. I have tried running various .exes in the CIM directory but have not found any which actually install a display driver. Upon restarting my computer again, the original driver will be installed as described previously. Has anyone encountered a similar problem with the driver reinstalling itself? I skimmed this thread but didn't notice anyone talking about it. Additionally, if anyone has a link to a driver file I can manually install I could probably use that as I don't care much about whether I get CCC or not. |

AW: ATi Catalyst Mobility 11.12 display drivers for notebook computers (13/12/2011)
11.12 work fine with AMD Radeon HD 6750 on MacBook Pro 2011 (early).
Only one question. After installing the drivers, the device manager of Windows 7 shows AMD Radeon 6600M and 6700M Series instead of AMD Radeon HG 6750M like before. Is that right ? An answer would be nice. THX |

I confirm, laptop 5552G(x4 n950) Radeon HD 6650M, displays AMD Radeon 6600M and 6700M Series here as well, but that is just cosmetic, it is important the driver is new and freshly updated. thank you guys for the effort and time taken |

Re: ATi Catalyst Mobility 11.12 display drivers for notebook computers (13/12/2011)
Hello dear forums,
i am a new member and i post here in all desperation . i have an AW M17x R2 ,xfire 5870M . i had 11.10 Drivers before and i tried to update to 11.12 . while uninstalling the said drivers , i had a BSOD and then had to restart . The restart was in vain as the laptop bsoded as soon as i reached the logon screen . hence i used driver sweeper and CC cleaner to get rid of the driver and finally installed the 11.11 . after that i had a continuous BSOD {system service exception} due to an ati.sys driver . after trying to get it to work, i gave up and reverted to 11.10. fast forward to today. i see ATI released 11.12. started uninstalling the 11.10. as usual BSOD , the then the usual cleaning procedure . finally install 11.12 .... and then the same BSOD loop.... i can't login unless in safe mode. Please help me .. i am at a loss here . i was thinking about reformatting the whole thing, but i saw some posts where reinstalling WIn7 did not help. hence i am open to suggestions . Thank you |

Hi, I'm new, and I've tried the methods, but unfortunately it didn't work for me, and I had to system restore my laptop. I have the dv7-4070us with ati 5650 HD card, And I was wondering if you can post a step by step guide for all the newbies like me out there.

Re: ATi Catalyst Mobility 11.12 display drivers for notebook computers (13/12/2011)
First of all thank you for this post, the driver 11.12 is working perfectly, i had some issues because the catalyst control center (CCC) didn't open, but then i found some previous threads to deal with this:
http://www.hardwareheaven.com/mobili...ol-center.html So, the steps I used were: 1. Delete any files with Public Key Token of "90ba9c70f846762e" in c:\windows\assembly 2. Uninstall the previous driver in control panel 3. Use driver sweep in safe mode to clean more 4. Install the driver 11.12 5. Reboot My laptop: Toshiba L650 with Ati Mobility Radeon hd 5650 Windows 7 (64 bits) SP1 |

Re: ATi Catalyst Mobility 11.12 display drivers for notebook computers (13/12/2011)
Thanks to LQDForece I now have successfully installed the 11.12 version of ATI Driver. Now one more thing to ask hear.
How can I change the option for the scaling. I want to play call of duty 3 in full screen with low resolution but when I go to the CCC I can't even change the option for scaling. Any help would be appreciated. Regards, |

11.12 drivers don't work on a 5650 in the dv7tse-4100. Tried twice, fully updated before attempt and all previous drivers wiped prior.

I had to register myself too and say thanks. I normally don't, but in this case I did.
I have a MacbookPro 2011 and this did the trick to bring me up to 11.12. I'll be checking back!

Hello... this is my first post on this forum.
I wish to report success with my new HP dv4-3145tx laptop which has the Radeon 6750M & Intel HD 3000 switchable graphics. Since my system is new, I did not uninstall anything, and did not run Driver Sweeper etc. Just installed the 11.2 driver from his forum, and 11.12 on top of that. Devic Manager shows updated driver. To check whether the ATI card kicks in, I installed Sweet Home 3D, did some quick modelling, started GPU-Z & then in SH3D quickly rotated around the view. GPU-Z showed activity on the Radeon, but strangely also on the Intel Card. So all well so far, & many thanks to this forum. However my problem is I need to open heavy models in Sketchup, which uses OpenGL 1.5 . The Radeon does not kick in on sketchup or other OpenGL software (DoubleCAD XT). So, any help with OpenGL??? The thing is I need the laptop only for these two softwares... rest of my work is done on my trusty old N900. Any help would be really appreciated!!! |

If you have the ability to go into your bios and select the radeon graphics only, then enable that option. It'll eat more power, but if you're gaming you won't care... in my bios i can enable switching or integrated only... can't enable radeon only (acer doesn't support this). I think I'm just screwed for now... and honestly, after my experience with HP... you probably are too (my last machine was an HP with the integrated radeon 4xxx chip... i got catalyst 10x installed on it and it overheated the motherboard and the system hard failed). I am going to play with this for another day or so before I revert back to the original installation (catalyst 8.x) and just resign myself to the fact that this is not a laptop for gaming. I'm starting to remember why I switched over to consoles... |

Re: ATi Catalyst Mobility 11.12 display drivers for notebook computers (13/12/2011)
hello, i've been looking for a way to update my gpu drivers for a while now, and this thread shows promise, but a couple of questions. I have a acer aspire 7750g with switchable graphics (amd radeon hd 6650m gpu, intel 3000 on i5 chip). Has anyone had any luck updating this (or similar acer) computer's drivers? Also would a installation over existing drivers be recommended if they are up to date, or should i still delete them, reinstall, and write over them?
Also, on a side note, acer released a vga driver update for this model on the 4th of jan. I have heard that it is broken and less functional than previous acer released drivers (but very limited info so far). Anyone had any luck with new acer vga driver? Thanks in advance for any info

Hi,
I found this thread by chance, as many have, while searching for a way to break free of the chains of OEM-locks. I have done everything in the step by step and more. Cleaned the registry with Driver Sweeper, Advanced System Care 5 and CCleaner, rebooting after each. But when I install the 11.12 drivers, I receive this error after the reboot, when attempting to open CCC: ![]() The weird thing is, when installing 11.12, my screen does not once flicker, which suggests to me the drivers are not even installing? Acer Aspire 5943G i5-460M 2.53Ghz ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 Any assistance would be beautiful, as I have been stuck on drivers from 2010 for too long! Thanks! |
