Is this a new Windows XP installation?

Which specific video drivers are you attempting to install?

If you had a previous video card installed, did you uninstall all the drivers for it prior to installing the new card?

What specific motherboard do you have? Are all the motherboard/chipset drivers up to date? Check the manufacturer for any updates for it.

Need much more information before can provide help.

Re: AH4650 AGP Wont work!

If you don't have a manual for your motherboard, here is a link to a PDF for it...

http://217.110.237.70/Manuals/6701-e...%20MS-6701.pdf

First, make sure your Windows XP is Updated with the latest Service Pack and any additional updates.

Do not bother with the CD you have. Just use the drivers that Veridian 3 linked to.

Go to the Device Manager, Display Adapter and Remove/Uninstall any video card that shows up there. If you're prompted to Uninstall Drivers, do so.

Also, while there, go to the Monitor and Remove that as well as any option to remove drivers.

Download CCleaner Redirecting... and run the Cleaner and Registry options. You may need to run them a couple of times to make sure everything is cleaned up.

Reboot the PC and let Windows detect the AGP card and the monitor again. Do NOT interrupt any driver installation. You MUST let Windows install the Native VGA drivers prior to attempting to install the specific drivers that Veridian 3 linked to above.

Once Windows has installed the VGA drivers and also detected the monitor, reboot once again.

Now attempt to install the drivers for the ASUS AGP card using the drivers that are linked above.

Good luck!

thanks!
Go to Windows Update via your Start/Programs to see if you have the latest updates for your system.

Device Manager is accessed via the Control Panel.

I'm no longer using XP so, I can't be very detailed as to the exact method at the moment.

EDIT: OK, you got SP 3. That's good. Now, on to the Device Manager.

EDIT 2: Good luck. I'm off to work and won't be back for several hours.

After you cleaned, deleted and then rebooted the PC, then run the Setup.exe for the file that Veridian 3 linked to. That's it!

Re: AH4650 AGP Wont work!

If I understand you correctly, once you have removed the Graphics Adapter from within Device Manager and then rebooted the PC, it is attempting to install the VGA driver but failing to do that. Instead, it's saying it can't find the driver? In other words, Windows is not properly recognizing that you have the AGP card inserted?

Give the full complete text of the message you are getting after it fails to install the VGA drivers.

Also, what is the device designation that is listed in Device Manager for the Display Adapter? Give the exact name listed...or whatever is showing for that device.

The guide new hardware found.
This guide helps you with install software to:
Monitorcard [VGA-Compatible]
Install the software automatic (recommed)
install the software from a list or a place (advanced)
i click Next > / inserting the cd i got with the ah4650
then Wait while the guide is searching
After 30sec
the hardware cannot be installed
the hardware didnt get installed because the guide
couldnt find any software
Then i just click done because i didnt know what to do
the same is coming with Monitorcard guide
EDIT: its named Monitorcard with a yellow ?
same with monitorcard vga

When you have deleted the video card from the list in Device Manager, reboot and DO NOT use the CD! Do NOT use anything at all. Just let the Operating System find the hardware and it will install the Native VGA drivers. I thought this was clear from before. Do NOT attempt to manually install anything until AFTER Windows has installed the Native VGA drivers.

Windows should, if the card is compatible with your system, it should install the correct VGA drivers from within the OS....no CD, no DVD, no downloaded drivers are needed for this step.

Once Windows has successfully recognized the video card, then, and ONLY then, will you be able to install the AGP drivers for the video card.

It does not get downloaded. It is automatically installed from Windows. You will see a notice on the screen that New Hardware has been found and the drivers will be installed. Do not interrupt this process.

Yes, delete everything and begin anew...but do NOT use any CD or other files until after Windows does what it needs to do first.

Re: AH4650 AGP Wont work!

I'm going to suggest one more thing and then I'm pretty much out of ideas.

Go again into Device Manager.

At the top of that you'll see some options. Among those is "View." Select that and then in the Dropdown menu, click on "Show Hidden Devices."

Now, with that option selected, go again to the Display Adapters and Remove/Uninstall any devices listed there....all of them if there are multiple devices.

Once done, exit out and restart the PC.

As soon as you see the first screen start pressing the F8 key repeatedly. This is to force the Start Up Menu and you want to select Safe Mode.

Let the PC boot into Safe Mode and see if, hopefully, it will detect the AGP card and proceed to install the VGA drivers.

If this fails, there has to be something conflicting with that particular card and your specific system.

The only OTHER thing I would attempt to do if it were mine, would be to do a Windows REPAIR operation with the ATI AGP card in the AGP slot and hope with both fingers and toes crossed that it would recognize and install the proper VGA drivers for it. This may, actually, be your best option after all the trouble you've already gone through.
