exclamation 9800 SE and 9800 PRO PPL

Those who have 9800 PRO and 9800 SE model cards can they (if they have it) upload a snaphot from AIDA32 to show there card specs.

I want to see the difference between the two cards, as there is a huge uproar in Australia about the SE models being sold as PRO's. Here is my spec:

See your PCI device code? '4E48', that is an 9800PRO vs 9800SE '4148'.

I have found away of telling 100% what card you have. It's a utility on Ati's website for identifying your card.

My card is as follow's-

R350(9800pro)
Device ID 4e48
Vendor ID 1002
Subsystem ID 0002
Subsystem vendor ID 1002
Bios p/n 113-A075-02-

After submitting this info to Ati custumer services i was emailed back and reasured that my card WAS real and not a 9800se.
My card is a powered by Ati, it has the same high quality ram (samsung) thats great for overclocking and is not one of the cards to have the cheap and unclockable ram that ships with some 9800pro's.
Also they said they knew nothing about 9800se being flashed to 9800pro then sold in retail box.
There seems to be a lot of scaremongering going on and i have myself been quite worried that i bought a dud card because of certain post's i have seen on here.
So far i have only seen 3 articals about this matter and not one of them had any hardcore prove that 9800se's are being sold as 9800pro's.
I feel that unless you have 100% facts you should not spread this info as it will put many people of buying Ati cards on what is unproven rumors. It is also a seroius allegation to make of a company, that they are selling goods under false protencies.

Tony.

P.s if any of you are worried use this link, download the ati tool and it gives you the info you need to submit to Ati who will email you back to confirm your cards model spec.

Oh and funky monkey just incase you think that because the 9800se is flashed to 9800pro it will hide the cards true ID then your wrong, subvendor ID and device ID can't be changed and subsytem ID is static.

Funky, i have read it, i read it before when you first told me about this "problem".
I have seen no other articals concerning this apart from the one you have.
If what your saying is true then Ati are either ripping people of or people are using there brand and selling goods that are not what they appear to be.
If this is the case im sure Ati would know about it but they dont.
I sent a email saying what my worry was. They reasured me my 9800pro was a 9800pro and also said they have never heard of any such thing.

Nothing to do with ATI. ATI probably have no idea.

Its the ppl that distribute them.

TonyMonTana:

IF you can buy an SMEDIA or a Sapphire 9800 PRO (retail) and the PN number is the same as that of a 9800 SE then tell me how $800.00 AUD can justify that?

If I do a search on goggle and type in my PN number and it displays a 9800SE PN number and my card was bought a 9800PRO then tell me that your right because of your comment above or is it that the manufactures on goggle are wrong??

There are articles on the web about this, you just need to read the news forums here and spend some time surfing.

And just one other thing --- If your comments are true and accurate then the wholesaler that has sold 15 9800 PRO's this year and recalled all of them back from their customers including me, due to info they recived from me and read on the net is wrong then you must be one smart cookie! I didnt spend an extra $125 US on my Hercules for nothing.

So please dont jump or allude to options based on your own judgement, read the articles on the web.

Ok monkey, whats the name and number of this card vendor, and if this is true how have 15 people all been ripped of and not one of them has notified ati?
sounds kinda strange to me, if i found out a vendor was selling a Ati branded product and claiming it to be something it was not and selling it as something it is not i would complain to Ati.So tell me monkey, how is it no one has told Ati?

Tony.

P.s And dont talk to me as if im a retard.

And one more thing monkey, the P/n number is only one of 6 ways to find out about your card, i.e Subvendor ID and bios ID all hep to determin what card you have, seems to me you took to much notice of one detail and diddnt bother to check the rest.

It isnt an ATI brand. The chipset is based on ATI. THe brand is seperate to ATI.

I dont wish to discuss this any further, please refrain from contacting me anymore - I think this post has become very negative and isnt benefiting anyone.

Funkey Monkey, thanks for trying to bring this issue to peoples attention. I think its best that people run the ATI tool on their card then take the issue on from their themselves (if there turns out to be a problem with their card.

TonyMonTana, i appreciate your feedback on the topic however please keep the name calling to a minimum.
I'm closing the thread as the discussion has obviously run its course, for anyone who comes to this thread in the future for info here again is the link to the tool.
