Radeon 9800XT

Hello, I'm new on this forum and it seems like a very good place to learn. I just bought a Radeon 9800XT and let me tell you this card smokes. I traded in my 9800 Pro for it and I went from 58xx scores in 3DMark03 to 66xx scores. The overdrive does noticable increases in games and benchies alike. Many said it would not be worth the extra $150 but I disagree. To say it like Rodney Renolds; this is a "kickass" product. Aslo, I am having no problems with cat 3.8 at all. Looks and runs great

Great

Cool, I'd like to see that. Could you please specify between overdrive on and off, please.

From what I have read about it ...I may be wrong but the overdrive is for occin' the card. So I would say turn it on while benchmarking to see if theres a difference.

Actually it lets the card OC itself according to the heat sensors built in. I have it on and it only OCs it a little but is noticable. I think it was a great idea and I hope it becomes a trend. You don't tell it to OC to any specific setting. It does it automatically and safelly. You can go to ATIs site and read about it

I would also been keen to see some benchies. I have seen 3dmar01 scores with an AMD64 on a 9800 PRo 256MB and the scores hit over 25,000!

We are in for a treat.

Im hoping someone can hack the drivers so they can edit the temps and speeds so you can make ur own "safe overclocking"

Here we are discussing softR9800xt script(in russian): http://radeon2.ru/ubb/Forum5/HTML/001453.html . We've tried it and tried flashing our 9800's to 9800xt and we all got artifacts in 3dmark03 like this:

How it looks on real 9800XT ??

Really dont think that will work because of how the XT card is made with the built in temperature stuff and all....could be wrong but i doubt flashing or a softmod will work at all

I did some bench marks w/ my 9800XT earlier today w/ 3dmark2k1 and 3dmark2k3 here are the results both with and without overdrive enabled:

3dmark2001:

Overdrive enabled: 13694
Overdrive disabled: 13210

3dmark2003:

Overdrive enabled: 6011
Overdrive disabled: 5995

I am using 1024MB of PC2100 DDR RAM. (That would more than likely attest to the lower scores than on some machines.)

The render of the above screenshot is flawless in the actual 9800XT.

Thanks for answers. But no one can unerstand the reason of this artifacts. They appear only in 3dmark03. All games, etc are ok.
