The extra cooling is essential if you really want to squeeze your card
I have pushed mine to 350 for the core and 330 for the memory, that was simply putting 2 fans blowing directly under the card

I have mine running at 360/330 with removed shim and AS3 on the core and ramsinks on the ram. I think you should be able to get at least 340/320 with no extra cooling on the card, but I guess that all depends on how well your case cooling is.

I have taken mine all the way to 410/365 with no artifacs, no extra cooling on the card and no ram sinks, but i also run 8 valcano fans at 84 cfms each with one blowing right across the card. I run it allday at 355/331. No problems yet, have had it for a year.
