need help

I see in my ati controll panel im only 4x agp speed,i have a 9800 128 pro and a dell dimension 8250,1G ram(ram bus),is my motherboard only 4x compatible or is it dells default settings only allowing 4 x?i called the dell "support" which wasnt any help(as usual).I readonthe forums about dell doing this to there default bios or something like that,im fairly new to pc's so this is alot to figure out for me any help would be appreciatted.o h the support did say my motherboard is 8x and my 9700(which came in the system )was 4x!!never heard of a 4x 9700,i have a 9800 now but didnt tell them the diff ,i have the latest omega's installed thanks for any help

If the motherboard BIOS does not have an option to enable or otherwise regulate the 8x mode then it's likely that the motherboard does not support it. However, the AGP 4x mode is well enough to give full performance with any graphics card out on the market today. In other words it is not really a problem.

the bios i get into they called a "1 page bios" support said there was a "5 page bios" where there was more options,but didnt tell me anymore
