ATI 9500 Pro

Ok, this is one heck of a card that's hard to get, because it's a major bang for buck! I run an Atlantis @9700 Pro, just bought an ATI 9500 Pro today & was surprised how hard it was to buy!

If anyone is interested, it's still possible to have one -Newegg, but you will have to do a search, because it won't show up under the regular 'List'...BUT, they do still have a couple @ $178 shipped!

Hope this helps someone looking, this card is awsome; for the price.

Cheers

Kiwirack,

I wonder if you (or anyone) could give me the latest on overclocking the 9500 Pro. I understand it is locked and that you had to swap out the bios to unlock it. Recently I see that the Riva Tuner allows users to alter the drivers and unlock it that way. Anyone know what is currently the easiest way to unlock a 9500 Pro for overclocking?

G'day Boat, I have no idea what struck me in the head right now to get on line....It's almost a New Year..Lol. Guess it was an impulse!

They are all locked, until you unlock

I have the BIOS drivers, if you want them, what you need to know; primarily is the memory type on the card (example 3.3ns~Type {name}) & how the memory is located on the card ~In one row, or top & side. These two factors determine if your card is BIOS clockable or requires a hardwire fix.

By the way @ stock the 9500 Pro is still the best bang for buck, anyway you like to look @ it.

Now I'm wondering why @ 2230 -I'm no getting shit faced...Lolol

Cheers

G'day and Happy New Year Kiwirack,

I just managed to unlock my 9500 pro using Riva Tuner and the new script to unlock locked ATI cards. I put in a modest overclock and then ran Aquamark and saw a real increase in performance.

Now I'm wondering how far these cards will go before I start getting artifacts or other problems. Mind sharing how far you have taken yours?

Start

By going into the BIOS & increasing the video voltage to 1.6v (from 1.5v), now you got a kicker card for a decent price Don't even need a HS on the memory chip @ stock; but you will need to with the OC -Before uping the voltage!

Good job!

Cheers

I've got a FIC Radeon 9500 Pro and was wondering if using the latest Omega drivers (Cat 3.10) will enable me to OC my card . Or do I have to find a modded BIOS? I've read elsewhere that I might not be able to mod my card. Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

If you read my earlier posts you would see that I am overclocking my 9500 Pro without a bios mod and using regular ATI drivers. You just have to download Riva Tuner and run the ATI antilock/overclocking script on the ATI drivers before you install them (XP protects installed drivers from alteration). All the instructions are detailed on the web site and with the Tuner documentation. Riva Tuner is mainly known as a great tweaker for NVidia cards but they have been supporting ATI cards for a long time. No need to risk your card with bios mods just run the script and overclock away. This overclocking script may even work with Omega drivers if you prefer them. You just have to check with the Riva Tuner board.

Thumbs Up!

After posting last night I kept searching and as it turns out you can run Omega drivers based an Catalyst 3.10 drivers and they will allow you to OC as long as you have .Net installed (to enable profiles). I'm going to try that.

If it doesn't work I'll try Rvia Tuner or RadClocker. I know RadClocker is no longer under development so I'd try Riva first.

Thanks.

I tried the latest Omegas and I lost 7000 AquaMarks. And without OCing too. This is the second Omega driver I've tried that worked worse for me than the stock version. I'll stick with ATi's versions.

I haven't tried any OCing software yet, although with my card's performance being satisfactory as is, I might not try any...

I have a BB ATI 9500 PRO 3.3 Infineon - I actually had to flash the BIOS to a 9500>9700 BIOS by warp11 I think, and it unlocked overclocking for me, I use RadClocker to overclock it, usually with the Catalyst drivers sometimes Omega's.

My highest with stock cooling was 353 on the core and 300 on the RAM, with the Zalman Heatpipe cooler I can get 360/300 stable.

Any other questions about the 9500 just PM me, I know all about it I LOVE this card to DEATH!

Been Busy

tek That's the ticket!

I never got a Hey, I want it I have {Whatever memory, cause it matters to the approach}...Ok, fine.

Well that was the offer I had given...Lol

Yes, the ATI 9500 Pro OC ROCKS! Best bang for the buck, the downside is most places now realize what we are doing and the price is rising, when it should be falling..

Best kept secret is out!

Cheers
