Slasher16 is on a distinguished road

radeon 9800 PRO

I know this card is great and that it performs very well. But does it have a tendancy to overheat without extra cooling systems?

If i take my p4.2.6 with HT and 800 MHZ FSB
512 RAM
120 HD

would it overheat

BTW its an out of the box HP a250n.
Any other specs needed for this ? just ask

The higher your PSU the lower chance of OH the card right?

Im so confused because im worried if i purchase this card it will OH or my PSU wont be right but i will check it soon.

BTW is there a way to check your PSU without opening up your case?

Well first of all its known that most radeons from the 9700pro and up DONT have the required cooling with the exception of a few models made by certain companies.

But the thing is that you havent privided us with any info related to the cards overheating.
What info do i mean ??
1) case type (a pic would help too...especially a side view with open panel)
2)how many fans and where they are located and doing what(by what i mean blowing inwards-blowing outwards)

3) which card do you have (made by who)

4) are you overclocking it??

.......................................

And NO you cant see what type of psu you have unless you open the case and read the sticker on it (if it has one).
But if the pc is a ready-built one give us a link to its site so we can see.
Also note that if the PSU is a no-name and around 350 v/a or less then that may become an issue where stability is conserned.

BTW i just noticed at the model you posted above and found it to be a HP Pavilion A250n ...right??

Well friend ...that case isnt going to help where cooling is conserned

Also..i noticed that at the HP home page that model isnt even sold anymore and the newer models do not even mention the power supply.
Oh and a review that i found says that the A250n is running 512 megs of pc2700 ram.....that is totaly wrong dude....why in the world would they do that when they have a P4 800 fsb cpu on a 865 chipset capable of running dual channel pc3200 ram to compliment the cpu ???

All i can say is...."another ripoff by HP...."

I bet i could build a rig with those specs(more like better) for half ....yes half the money........and guess what???...i do...every damn day

System Specs

the stock cooling should be fine considering you have proper case airflow...

also i'd reccomend a 350W+ psu

Well Cowboy having sold a few of those i can tell you that the airflow...sucks(or is it blows..hehe)

The only thing that would help is a some MODDING!!!......... like a nice windowed side panel with some intake fans or at least a PCI slot cooler...better yet a VGA silencer !!(i like this solution best for his case since hes probably under warantee)
