System Specs

Big Grin Radeon 9500np-->9800

I have just flashed my 9500np etrontech 3.3 memory bios (with the pro pcb) to a sapphire 9800SE with etrontech 3.3 memory (it sucks), and voila!!!, I can get more overclocking, from 378/270, I have reached 384/290 and I have used the rivatuner patch to make it a 9800 although the system recognise it like a 9500
I have opened succesfully the 8 pipelines and these are my results:
3DMark2001SE:11483
3DMark2003:3882
pretty well for my system

Lol dude you are killing me....

Most ppl with a 9800SE with that pcb usually softmod it to a 9500pro..hehe

Why dont you just softmod it to a 9700 which is what most ppl do ??(it may work as a 9700np depending on memory)

Basicly what im saying is that you didnt have to flash it with a bios meant for another card (very risky btw and lucky that it even booted up).

With a softmoded driver you could make it a PRO (pros have 8 pipes) so what you have now... is a 9500pro not a 9800se (no way in hell since the 9800's have a R350 core and not the R300 that the 9500 has)

Nuf said check THIS OUT

There you will see what cards become what and how...ok??

BTW i suggest you flash the bios back so you dont run into any problems later on while trying to install drivers that may not like your weird card.....trust me ive seen it happen ( to me too)
Get a bios from the site i posted that is unlocked for overclocking or try one from HERE

Also : im just curious but do you also keep a spare vidcard for the VERY POSSIBLE case that you fry that one with the clocks you are attemping to use???? or did you consider cooling it??
You see im curious because the 9500s have a default core of 275 and ram 270-275 so it really suprises me how you got over the clock of a 9700pro who's default core is 325 and ram at 310 without frying it.(yet)

Well, I knew all of that, and yes I have a 9500np to pro but what I have done, which takes no effect on the drivers (I have just installed 3.10) is flashing the bios to a 9800SE with the same memory type because that bios provide a best voltage to the card which lets me overclock the memory better, at the beginning, with the original 9500np bios, I couldn´t pass the stock 270Mhz for the memory and now I can do 290 without artifacts, also I have increase the core from 378 to 385.
I know those problems you have related and I have tried other 9800se bios which made my computer and drivers run with problems but this bios doesn´t since it has the same memory type (etrontech 3.3) and the same pcb layout.

Thats what i was trying to tell Fantasma....

He was using a LOCKED bios that wouldnt let him overclock...hense the artifacts at the slightest increase of clocks.
I said to go get a CRACKED bios for it.

Here is an example: one day at work we recieved 5 used 9500s for oem use but i had a chance to try then all out in softmodding.

The three wouldnt except the softmod(corruption) but the other 2 blew my socks off...

They had benchmarks very close to the 9700pro i had at the time (default clocks on the 97xx)

On a p4 2.6c @ 3ghz i got 43.000 aquamarks 5200 3dmark2k3 and 15.500 on 2k1 with a mild overclock of 340/300...get the picture??

Fantasma have you even checked the temps of ram and core?
You say that that bios gives you more voltage on the ram.....do you really think thats safe?? and how long do you think the card is going to last?

Hell dude its your funeral...

LOL, well, I have some things, instead of use a 9800se bios, I have e-mailed to sapphire and they have sent me a bios (revision 8.004) and it runs like the 9800se bios, I can overclock it at the same level 384/290!!!!!
Now, I have run 3dmark with both the 9700 patch and 9800 patch, it doesn´t make any difference and now my results are:
3DMark2001: 11509
3DMark2003:4030

Also I have touched my memory and gpu when I am running games and it is only warm, it´s not so hot, I had a 9500 non modable which I was running at less speed and I burnt my finger everytime I touch it and I rma´ed it, so I don´t think that my card is dead

@Goat_guy:
You have a 2600+ while I have a 1800+ and you have better motherboard as mine only supports memory DDR @ 266Mhz
