Powercolor R96A-C3T aka 9600XT: No overdrive available/possible!
I found this in the german 3D-Center Forum (one of the best): "dear user :
there are 2 different model for Radeon 9600XT product : R96A-C3T : earlier model based on R9600 pro PCB , this vga card have not include circuit need for overdriver feature ,and we have used the memory with higher speed then ATI recommand to make the performance same as a R9600XT with overdrive feature . R96T-C3 : new design with circuit of overdrive feature , we are planning to swap with earlier product in end of this month . so , your vga card still have acceptable speed when you compare with other vga card ." I am a really lucky owner of a Powercolor 9600XT "Ultra" (R96A-C3T, http://www.power-color.com/r96a-c3t.htm ) and was still hoping to get Overdrive with the next catalyst release. And now this. I don't know, if it's true or not, but if it's true: this sucks! The funny thing is, that Powercolor wrote on their web site 2-3 weeks ago, that their 9600XT can Overdrive. I have bought my Powercolor 9600XT in the first December week...

We will just have to wait and see what happens in the next few weeks. There should be a new Cat driver coming out pretty soon.......though not sure when. Keep reading up on your card.....hopefully you will end up with what you intended to buy.
